In an appearance on the Spanish language station Univision’s “Al Punto” Sunday show, President Obama, with the help of host Enrique Acevedo, appealed to Latino voters by tying the Trayvon Martin case to the “anti-immigrant” sentiment Obama said Hispanics have recently faced. In his final question to Obama, Acevedo asked, “Finally, Mr. President, why is it that half a century after the civil rights movement and after the American people elected their first African-American president do I have to stand today here in front of you and ask you about racial tensions in the U.S.? The Pulitzer Prize winners were announced today, and both Huffington Post and Politico won an award. The HuffPo award went to David Wood for his months-long series on wounded soldiers. The Politico award went to cartoonist Matt Wueker for “his consistently fresh, funny cartoons, especially memorable for lampooning the partisan conflict that engulfed Washington.” From their description, it sounds like “partisan conflict” might involve shots at both sides of the aisle. Sadly, that’s not the case. You can probably guess the type of “fresh” humor that won Wueker the award, but I’ll spare you the trouble. Tonight on CNN Democrat strategist Hilary Rosen of SKDKnickerbocker, the PR firm run by Anita Dunn, claimed that Republicans made up the “War On Women” and blamed the Democrats. Well, first, can we just get rid of this word, “war on women”? The Obama campaign does not use it, President Obama does not use it—this is something that the Republicans are accusing people of using, but they’re actually the ones spreading it. Really? In two separate instances, Politifact has contradicted itself with its rating of the accurate claim made by the Romney campaign that women account for 92.3 percent of the jobs lost under President Obama.  The “fact checking” organization, which the mainstream media treats as an unbiased and neutral arbiter, showed how much it is willing to stretch the truth to support Obama and undermine Republicans. Hilary Rosen doubled down on the Democrats “War On Moms” at the Huffington Post. Rosen can’t seem to keep her narratives straight: Ann Romney is either an unintellectual homemaker too stupid to understand economics or a powerful force behind which Mitt Romney hides: Women of America must ask Mitt Romney to come out from behind his wife’s skirt and tell us working women in this country should trust his vision for their future.
