Charlotte Observer Abruptly Memory-Holes Story On Hagan's Stimulus Scandal

The Republican Party of North Carolina is lashing out at the Charlotte Observer for abruptly memory-holing a story published Saturday night regarding the scandal involving the stimulus money awarded to the immediate family of Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC). The Observer blamed its partner WBTV, but didn’t say anything about the article being inaccurate. It just vanished. Titled “Memo: Grant given to company run by Sen. Hagan’s husband needs ‘legal review'” (the article is cached here), the piece opens with the news that, “State officials say a stimulus grant given to a company run by Kay Hagan’s husband needs ‘further legal review.'” This potentially damning information was found in a memo obtained by WBTV. State officials say a stimulus grant given to a company run by Kay Hagan’s husband needs “further … Read entire article »

Washington Post: Nancy Pelosi Lied About Not Knowing Jonathan Gruber

Although the mainstream media as a whole (with few exceptions) is covering up the damning video of ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber openly discussing all the lies and deceit surrounding passage of President Obama’s signature domestic achievement, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi forced the Washington Post’s hand on the matter Thursday when she was caught lying about not knowing Gruber. “I don’t know who [Gruber] is,” Pelosi told reporters Thursday. “He didn’t help write our bill.” The only problem with that claim is the Post’s discovery that in November of 2009, Pelosi gushed over Gruber by name. Here’s the video. The transcript is below: Q: As you know, the Republicans released their health- care bill this week. And I wanted to get your comment on the bill, and specifically on the CBO analysis that it … Read entire article »

Dish Chairman Mocks: 'Unless They Find the Plane' Losing CNN a 'Non-Event'

Currently, Dish Network’s 14 million subscribers do not have access to CNN or other Turner Broadcasting channels like the Cartoon Network. Speaking specifically of CNN, Dish Chairman Charlie Ergen ridiculed the left-wing cable news network’s obsessive coverage of the missing Malaysian airliner and said losing the channel was a “non-event.” “Twenty years ago, CNN was a must-have channel, but it’s not a top 10 network anymore … unless they find the plane, the Malaysian plane,” Ergen said during a conference call. He added that losing CNN just days before a major midterm election would have been “a disaster” for Dish a decade ago, but there have been “few subscriber losses after the channel’s removal because viewers now have plenty of sources for news.” Keep in mind that Ergen is currently negotiating with … Read entire article »

Employee Morale at CNN Collapses

Employee morale at the Washington offices of CNN is at a low point after another series of layoffs and buyouts. On Monday, Politico reported that last Friday, when hundreds of CNN employees lost their jobs, “people were crying all over the bureau” for departing co-workers. “Morale at the CNN Washington Bureau is about as strong as it is inside the Redskins’ locker room–and the management is just as bad,” a CNN staffer told the news site. The wave of layoffs was an effort to cut eight percent of CNN’s workforce. 50 employees were cut from the Washington, D.C. bureau alone. But at the same time, 20 new positions were created in the bureau’s digital department. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); “Things have been horrible inside the Washington bureau,” CNN reported. “On Friday, … Read entire article »

After Six Years Obama Adviser Valerie Jarrett Finally Scrutinized by Media

After the shellacking that President Obama received at the hands of voters in the midterm elections, his chief adviser, Valerie Jarrett, is finding herself on the hot seat.  Over the weekend, two articles in outlets that are usually friendly to the White House singled her out as a major problem. One piece slams her as the “Obama whisperer,” and another flat-out advises Obama to fire her. Jarrett has been with the Obamas since their political launch in Chicago and has become the president’s spokesperson, closest adviser, and, some say, the real decision-maker in the White House. This ultimate insider has been criticized by conservatives for years, but now it seems even liberals have had enough of her. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); For years, many have been afraid to cross her–and for … Read entire article »

Washington Post Fact Checker Relies on Dictionary to Protect Jeanne Shaheen

On Monday, the Washington Post Fact Checker issued four Pinocchios to an anti-amnesty ad blasting Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) for aligning 99% of the time with President Obama—a man who has promised executive amnesty for illegal immigrants. Embarrassingly, the Post’s pedantic review invoked that most outmoded of rhetorical tropes—the old grammar school “According to Webster’s Dictionary…” side-step—as it performed linguistic gymnastics in an attempt to refute an ad whose premise is patently true. The ad, which was sponsored by Ending Spending Action Fund (ESAF), states that Shaheen votes with Barack Obama 99% of the time, a fact the ad sources to CQ Roll Call. The Post Fact Checker chose not to challenge this portion of the ad. “We will lay aside the 99 percent claim,” wrote thePost, because it has been … Read entire article »

Media: Judicial Watch Was Correct on Obama Ebola Report

The White House seems to be trying to back away—at least publicly—from potential plans to admit Ebola-infected non-U.S. citizens into the United States for treatment.  Recently, I sent a troubling Judicial Watch report that the Obama administration was actively formulating a proposal to bring Ebola patients into the United States for treatment within the first days of diagnosis. It is unclear who would bear the high costs of transporting and treating non-citizen Ebola patients. The plans reportedly include special waivers of laws and regulations that ban the admission of non-citizens with a communicable disease as dangerous as Ebola. One source tells us that the Obama administration is keeping this plan secret from Congress. The source is concerned that the proposal is illegal, endangers the public health and welfare, and should require the approval of … Read entire article »

Huffington Post Takes Disciplinary Actions Against Editors and Writers

A series of disciplinary actions against editors and writers rocked Huffington Post last week, leaving disgruntled employees and a website chief defending Arianna Huffington’s actions.  In one case, Huffington punished editors for an article accusing CNN’s Fareed Zakaria of plagiarism, leaving employees claiming that she is just lashing out at employees who upset her friends. Insiders have leaked their displeasure with management’s decisions to deal out suspensions to several employees and for putting at least one story on hold for what HuffPo bosses say are violations of good journalistic practices. In one case, a story criticizing the financial dealings between The Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education and activewear company Lululemon resulted in short suspensions for a reporter, an editor, and a copy editor, supposedly for not bothering to contact … Read entire article »

Memphis man with 25 children may have fathered more

Stewart and Davis say they haven’t gotten a dime since their boys were born. Yet Turnage, who told a Memphis judge he was broke, flaunts a lavish lifestyle around town and on Facebook. He flashes wads of money, puts his name on luxury cars and after a recent big birthday bash at his club bragged about having a $250 bottle of Hennessy. He said 700 people turned out for the two-day event. Among those in the crowd, Stewart and Davis. We asked them about why they’re paying money to party with a man who refuses to take care of their… Read more CompleteMemphis man with 25 children may have fathered more … Read entire article »

Rosetta: Battery will limit life of Philae comet lander (Houston, We Have NO Sunshine!!!)

After a historic but awkward comet landing, the robot probe Philae is now stable and sending pictures – but there are concerns about its battery life. The lander bounced twice, initially about 1km back out into space, before settling in the shadow of a cliff, 1km from its intended target site. It may now be problematic to get enough sunlight to charge its battery systems. — The key issue vexing controllers right now is the lighting conditions. Philae is receiving about 1.5 hours of illumination during every 12-hour rotation of the comet. This will be insufficient to top up its… Read more CompleteRosetta: Battery will limit life of Philae comet lander (Houston, We Have NO Sunshine!!!) … Read entire article »

Islamic State—APEC A Fizzer – G20 Promises No Better

Hopefully the Beijing babble will give way to serious business in Brisbane The 2014 APEC Conference in Beijing this past week has been and gone and the G20 Conference in Brisbane is taking place in Brisbane this weekend. If the APEC Conference is any guide the world leaders assembled in Australia will have little to say about the meteoric rise of Islamic State (IS) over the past six months and the threat to world peace and security Islamic State poses. Expectations were high that Islamic State would be discussed at the APEC Conference. Read more CompleteIslamic State—APEC A Fizzer – G20 Promises No Better … Read entire article »

Incoming Republican chairs include “powerful friends” of public broadcasting, says APTS president

SAN DIEGO — Patrick Butler, public television’s chief advocate on Capitol Hill, wants to reassure broadcasters who are nervous about the incoming Republican majority, particularly on the powerful Senate side. In a speech at the annual American Public Television Fall Marketplace, Butler said that he “detected some anxiety in the public television industry that we will be going to hell in a handbasket now that Republicans control the entire Congress” after this month’s midterm elections. “I’ve come to San Diego to tell you that it ain’t necessarily so.” Butler, president of the Association of Public Television Stations, reminded the crowd… Read more CompleteIncoming Republican chairs include “powerful friends” of public broadcasting, says APTS president … Read entire article »

Obama's Amnesty Will Turn U.S. Into Welfare Magnet

ObamaCare: A memo acquired by Fox News says that President Obama is due any day now to announce amnesty for 4.5 million illegal aliens. But don't worry: They'll get health insurance. And U.S. taxpayers will pay for it. One of the most costly elements of ObamaCare has been its massive expansion of Medicaid, the state-run health insurance program intended to cover poor families. As reported by Breitbart's Big Government, a new study by the Center for Immigration Studies has found something shocking: Namely, that from 2011 through 2013, as ObamaCare was first being rolled out, 42% of all new Medicaid… Read more CompleteObama's Amnesty Will Turn U.S. Into Welfare Magnet … Read entire article »

Walking Wounded—government victimizing disease

Happiness is having health insurance only institutionalizes the idea that one can’t enjoy life if they don’t have coverage In all likelihood, you haven’t taken a look at the new vocabulary of healthcare and the change that it has instituted in how we perceive health and, as a result, healthcare—these perceptions that underlie the concept of necessary healthcare. In fact, it goes to the very core of what we think health is. If someone asked you to define health, would you say it was well being? Or a state or condition of the body and/or mind? Common usage, anymore, lies… Read more CompleteWalking Wounded—government victimizing disease … Read entire article »

Today's Word with Joel Osteen – November 13, 2014 [Devotional]

Flourish Like a Palm Tree Today's Scripture “The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree…” (Psalm 92:12, NIV) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Have you ever seen a palm tree in the midst of a great storm? That tree may be bent so far over that it’s almost touching the ground, but when the wind finally stops, that palm tree bounces right back up. What’s interesting is that while that palm tree is hunched over under the pressure of the storm, it is actually becoming stronger. See, the reason God said we’d flourish like a palm tree is… Read more CompleteToday's Word with Joel Osteen – November 13, 2014 [Devotional] … Read entire article »

Exclusive: Hamas bombed Fatah officials’ homes and faked ISIS claim of responsibility

A Western intelligence source speaking exclusively to The Jerusalem Post on Thursday revealed that it was Hamas that bombed homes and vehicles belonging to Fatah officials in Gaza last Friday, and made sure to forge a false claim of responsibility by the Islamic State in Gaza. The source also revealed that the incident—that caused damage but no injuries—was conducted by Hamas’ military branch, the Izz ad-Din al-Kassam Brigades, without a prior “heads-up” to the political leaders of Hamas. … Read more CompleteExclusive: Hamas bombed Fatah officials’ homes and faked ISIS claim of responsibility … Read entire article »
