Ted Cruz Mocks Politico's "Secret Tape" Of Him: "Word For Word" What I Said On Leno And Colbert

Sen. Ted Cruz answers a question about the “secret recording” that was reported by Politico on Wednesday to demonstrate that repealing gay marriage would not be a top priority for the senator if he were elected president. “My view on gay marriage is that I’m a constitutionalist and marriage is a question for the states,” Sen. Cruz says in the recording. Ted cruz says these comments are “almost word for word what I said on Jay Leno and Stephen Colbert.” The same Politico piece reports that Catherine Frazier, the Cruz campaign’s national press secretary, said his comments about gay marriage “are nothing new. … This is nothing different from what he says all the time.” The piece also quotes an anonymous “adviser to a rival campaign” who said the comments demonstrated that “There’s … Read entire article »

David Brock: Trump's Use Of "Schlonged" Racist, Makes Obama Look Like A "Black Rapist"

Clinton critic turned Clinton loyalist David Brock says Donald Trump’s use of “schlonged” to describe then-Senator Barack Obama’s victory over then-Senator Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary has a “racial appeal” and evokes the image of a “black rapist.” … Read entire article »

Bernie Sanders Mocks Trump's Bathroom Comments, Wonders About "His Relationship With Women"

Bernie Sanders takes the opportunity to mock Donald Trump after he said Hillary Clinton’s mid-debate trip to the bathroom was “disgusting.” “Donald Trump is very upset,” Sanders said. “It is very hard for him to deal with, I don’t know what his relationship with women has been in his life, but he has discovered that women go to the bathroom. And it has been very upsetting for him.” “I gotta be honest with you, lay it out on the table. I also went to the bathroom,” Sanders continued, getting laughs from the crowd in Iowa early this morning. … Read entire article »

Clinton To Sanders Supporters: Don't Pass On Me Because I'm "Not Pure Enough"

Hillary Clinton answers a question at a rally from someone who is concerned that people who supported President Obama in 2008, and support Bernie Sanders today, might not vote if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee. “I am sorry that they are disappointed now with President Obama,” she said to applause. “I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for doing so much for our country.” “I think it is very dangerous to look at the alternatives, and believe that you staying home is a responsible choice.” “It is hard for me to believe that anybody who would support Sen. Sanders would want to see any of the Republicans be elected president of the U.S., and I happen to believe I am a better candidate to win, to be the next … Read entire article »

Virginia Severs Concealed Carry Agreements With 25 States

Virginia will stop honoring concealed carry permits from more than two dozen other states that currently have reciprocity privileges with the commonwealth. Attorney General Mark Herring, a Democrat, announced the change Tuesday after a state audit determined that gun laws in 25 states failed to meet Virginia’s requirements for concealed handguns. The shift will take effect Feb. 1. In announcing termination of the agreements on out-of-state on permits, Herring said it ensures that individuals disqualified under Virginia law from obtaining a concealed weapons permit can’t use the reciprocity agreement to carry firearms in the state. “While you are here, you are subject to the commonwealth’s gun laws,” Herring said during a press conference. Virginia bars anyone with a record for stalking, assault, drug use or drunk driving from carrying a handgun. Individuals with a legal history of mental … Read entire article »

Here Are the 9 ‘Most Unfair’ Courts for Civil Lawsuits

In nine courts around the country, trial lawyers and judges work together in extracting large sums of money from people who may not deserve it, according to a new report. By taking advantage of tort laws, the ease with which civil justice cases are tried in these “judicial hellholes” can lead to higher costs of medical services and health care, and goods and services, and have a negative impact on innovation, the American Tort Reform Association found. The group examined courts across the nation and determined which civil courts, or “judicial hellholes,” were the most egregious in applying “laws and court procedures in an unfair and unbalanced manner.” Many of the civil courts singled out by the organization lean heavily in favor of the plaintiff, according to the report, and demonstrate what the … Read entire article »

Why Franklin Graham Is Leaving the GOP

Less than one week after Congress passed a massive year-end spending bill that failed to strip Planned Parenthood of its taxpayer dollars, evangelist Franklin Graham announced he is leaving the Republican Party. “Shame on the Republicans and the Democrats for passing such a wasteful spending bill last week,” Graham wrote Monday on Facebook. “And to top it off, funding Planned Parenthood!” Graham, CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said Republicans’ failure to defund Planned Parenthood is an “example” of why he is declaring himself an independent. “This is an example of why I have resigned from the Republican Party and declared myself independent,” Graham wrote. “I have no hope in the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or Tea Party to do what is best for America.”  In declaring his … Read entire article »

Why Is Obama Administration Siding With Iran Over Congress?

The Obama administration’s controversial nuclear deal with Iran has generated a diplomatic kerfuffle that could limit Congress’s latitude in addressing unrelated security issues. Senior administration officials have advised congress that a law passed on Friday, which tightens rules of the Visa Waiver program to make it more difficult for potential terrorists to gain entry into the U.S., could violate the Iran nuclear agreement. Under the revised law, foreign travelers who hold citizenship or have travelled to Iraq, Syria, Iran or Sudan in the last five years would be prohibited from visa-free travel to the United States. Iranian officials claim that this violates the nuclear agreement because the United States pledged not to take any action that would harm Iran’s economic relations with other states. This charge is spurious. Iranians or other travelers still could … Read entire article »

This Judge Tried to Limit a Former Pastor’s Free Speech

A district court judge in Mecosta County, Mich. has ordered a former pastor, Keith Eric Wood, to be arrested for felony obstruction of justice and misdemeanor jury tampering. His crime? Wood distributed a pamphlet (available here) on jury rights and jury nullification—when a jury believes the defendant is guilty but returns a “Not Guilty” verdict in conscientious opposition to the law or application of law at hand— produced by the Fully Informed Jury Association from a public sidewalk outside the county courthouse. Obstruction of justice charges are typically warranted when a criminal defendant says to a juror “I know where your daughter lives, and if you ever want to see her alive again, you’ll vote not guilty;” or “There’s five large waiting for you if you vote to acquit.” In fact, another Michigan judge … Read entire article »

Why Liberals Are Wrong About Land Mines

One of the progressive left’s favorite causes is campaigning against land mines. The Obama administration naturally has promised to stop producing or buying anti-personnel land mines (APL). In addition to this, the administration has said it will to stop using mines outside the Korean Peninsula, and – eventually – to accede to the Ottawa Convention, which bans anti-personnel mines entirely. Although this might sound great to some, land mines actually cause few casualties, and are important militarily. In 2014, according to the Landmine Monitor – published by the campaigners themselves – land mines caused only 618 casualties worldwide. Leftover artillery shells and bombs, called explosive remnants of war, caused 1,055 casualties. Improvised explosive devices (IED), which often legally are considered land mines, have caused 1,069 deaths. Unexploded cluster munitions, another favorite left-wing hate, caused only … Read entire article »

North Korea’s Leadership, Not the Weather, Is to Blame for Worsening Humanitarian Crisis

Earlier this year, Pyongyang declared it was suffering the “worst drought in 100 years.” Indeed, North Korea has suffered widespread food shortage since the early 1990s when an estimated 5 percent of its population died of starvation and related diseases. The situation remains dire. According to the World Development Indicators, 15.2 percent of North Korean children under age five were underweight in 2012. The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported in 2015 that the chronic malnutrition rate among children under five years of age was 28 percent. This long-term food shortage aggravates health conditions. Insufficient nutrition weakens the body’s immune system, making North Koreans more susceptible to infections, such as tuberculosis (TB). According to the North Korean Humanitarian Needs and Priorities 2015 Report, TB is a major public … Read entire article »

Police Lift Ban on Christmas Caroling Outside Abortion Clinic

Police lifted a ban on Christmas caroling after ordering a group of pro-life activists to stop singing “Silent Night” and other carols on a sidewalk outside an abortion clinic. The carolers planned to head back to the clinic before Christmas Eve, relieved they each no longer face a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500. “No one should try to shut down Christmas carols on a public sidewalk, and we’re pleased that that city has changed its tune and says it won’t do that again,” Matt Bowman, senior legal counsel for the Christian legal group Alliance Defending Freedom, said. Two police officers were captured on video Saturday politely telling carolers they were violating a city noise ordinance by singing “Silent Night” on a sidewalk outside an abortion clinic in Falls Church, Va. “The Falls Church Police Department … Read entire article »

U.S. Arms Sales to Taiwan: A Quarter of a Loaf

Fast on the heels of the COP21 climate change conference, the Obama Administration announced its first, and likely last, arms sale to Taiwan in this term. Totaling some $1.83 billion, the sale will include two decommissioned frigates, Javelin and TOW-2B anti-tank missiles, Stinger man-portable anti-aircraft missiles, amphibious vehicles, and various support equipment. While the decision to sell arms to an American friend is welcome, it raises the question of what the Administration actually intends to do. While these systems are helpful in sustaining Taiwan, they do not address two of the most fundamental imbalances in the cross-Strait security situation: the air and undersea situations. In 2010, the American Defense Intelligence Agency submitted a report that indicated the balance of airpower over the Taiwan Strait was steadily sliding in favor of the People’s … Read entire article »

John Kerry Proves He Doesn’t Understand Climate Science

In an interview at the close of the recent Paris climate conference, Secretary of State John Kerry scolded Republican senators for saying out loud that the next president may not be a big supporter of President Barack Obama’s climate policies. Kerry asserted voters won’t allow a change, “I don’t think they’re going to accept as a genuine leader someone who doesn’t understand the science of climate change and isn’t willing to do something about it.” But Kerry disproves his own theory. In a widely covered speech in Jakarta, Indonesia Kerry gave an absolutely cringe-worthy explanation of CO2 and global warming. Of course the press totally ignored his bizarre CO2 science lesson: “I know sometimes I can remember from when I was in high school and college, some aspects of science or physics can … Read entire article »

What the Gift of a Gun for Christmas Taught a 9-Year-Old Boy

What the Gift of a Gun for Christmas Taught a 9-Year-Old Boy

Say what you want about the conservative, churchgoing Grahams of Lexington County, S.C., but we knew how to cut loose for Christmas. Growing up in the Deep South, I never had the pleasure of a white one, of course. But what we southerners lack in snowfall, we make up for in lard. And sugar. And gravy. Usually in the same dish. My father is a lifelong fiscal conservative (aka “cheapskate”), yet Christmas was the one time … Read entire article »

Why Are North Korean Defectors Destined for Severe Punishment?

China is currently considering repatriating nine young North Korean defectors back to North Korea. In early October, the defectors fled North Korea by crossing the Yalu River to Shenyang and then traveling to the town of Nanning on the Chinese border with Vietnam. They crossed into Vietnam on Oct. 22 but were caught by Vietnamese police and handed over to Chinese authorities  in Dongxing, Guangxi. On Oct.26, they were taken to Shenyang by train and may now be repatriated back to North Korea where they will likely face punishment and persecution upon their return. International organizations are calling upon China to uphold their international obligations as a signatory of the U.N. Refugee Convention and not repatriate the nine defectors. Phil Robertson, deputy director of Human Rights Watch, wrote in a statement, … Read entire article »

Putin Is Developing an Underwater Drone With Nuclear Weapons That Can Target U.S.

Russia is developing a drone submarine that can deliver a nuclear warhead or dirty bomb (targets electronics) at U.S. coastal areas. Russian officials confirmed the existence of the program – dubbed Kanyon by the Pentagon – after images of a document detailing plans for the sub were broadcast on Russian state-run television. According to the document, Kanyon is intended to be capable of “damaging the important components of the adversary’s economy in a coastal area and inflicting unacceptable damage to a country’s territory by creating areas of wide radioactive contamination that would be unsuitable for military, economic, or other activity for long periods of time.” In short, Russia is developing a new, technologically advanced delivery vehicle designed to wreak maximum devastation on American shores. As Russia expert and former CIA analyst Jack Caravelli explains, “The … Read entire article »
