Do GOP Voters’ Views Still Strongly Align With Trump’s?

Voters are now evenly divided on which party’s views align more closely to their own, but the margin among Republican voters is shrinking when it comes to whether they think more like President Donald Trump or Republicans in Congress.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters say their views are closer to Trump and the average GOP member in Congress, including 33% who identify more with Trump’s views and 13% who align their views more to the average Congressional Republican. The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on March 30 and April 2, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
