GOP Voters Say Trump Won't Sway Them from Voting Republican in Midterms

This year’s special elections are an early indicator if President Donald Trump’s policies are resonating with voters, political commentators say. But it’s clear Republican and Democratic voters have already made up their minds.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters say President Trump will hurt Republican candidates running for Congress this year, while 33% think his presidency will help those candidates. Twelve percent (12%) believe Trump will have no impact on the upcoming Congressional races. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on April 13 and 16, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
