Trump Has Vowed to Eradicate MS-13. What You Need to Know About the Gang.

In describing its effort to enforce immigration laws aggressively, the Trump administration repeatedly has invoked the threat of MS-13, a violent international gang with ties to Central America. The Democrats don’t want money from budget going to border wall despite the fact that it will stop drugs and very bad MS 13 gang members. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2017 Responding to a recent surge of violence linked to MS-13 on Long Island, New York—punctuated by the April 13 discovery of four men killed near a public park—U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited with local law enforcement late last month, and vowed to eradicate the gang by cracking down on illegal immigration. “The MS-13 motto is kill, rape, and control,” Sessions said at the U.S. Courthouse on Long Island. “Our motto is … Read entire article »

The US Is Right to Insist on Lower UN Peacekeeping Dues

A consistent theme from the earliest days of the Trump administration was the intent to lower the amount that America pays for United Nations peacekeeping. During her confirmation hearing, Ambassador Nikki Haley repeatedly said that the U.S. contribution to the peacekeeping budget was too high and should be lowered to 25 percent. The current U.S. budget is at 28.5 percent. President Donald Trump’s budget blueprint also stated that “the U.S. would not contribute more than 25 percent for U.N. peacekeeping costs.” Congress seems to have gotten the message based on the 2017 budget that enforces U.S. law, capping U.S. contributions at 25 percent of the U.N. peacekeeping budget. It also reduces appropriations by about $500 million compared to 2016. Largest US Solar Panel Maker Files for Bankruptcy After Receiving $206 Million in Subsidies

The company once hailed as Europe’s largest solar panel producer filed for bankruptcy Wednesday, blaming cheap Chinese panels for flooding the market. “The ongoing price erosion and the development of the business” has left the company “over-indebted and thus obliged to file for insolvency proceedings,” SolarWorld, which is also the largest U.S. solar panel maker, said in a statement. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The filing comes after SolarWorld was forced to lay off employees earlier this year. … Read entire article »

ICE Spent Tens of Thousands of Dollars Sending Officials to Tolerance Seminar

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spent tens of thousands of dollars to send its officials to a “tolerance seminar” put on by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a group known for opposing immigration control efforts. Documents provided by ICE to the Immigration Reform Law Institute in response to a Freedom of Information Act request indicate that several dozen ICE officials attended a Simon Wiesenthal Center seminar in Los Angeles. The documents state that the training cost about $1,500 for … Read entire article »

US Army Needs More Troops to Confront Global Threats

The United States today faces a rising number of threats to national security from around the world, whether it be from North Korea, ISIS, or Russia. To deter and counter these threats requires a strong ground combat force, and it is the shared responsibility of the executive branch and Congress to adequately resource that force. The Heritage Foundation’s 2017 Index of Military Strength notes, “The U.S. Army is America’s primary land warfare component” whose “chief value to the nation is its ability to defeat and destroy enemy land forces in battle.” (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Many people hope that the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will be the last such major engagements requiring a ground force exceeding 100,000 and that the Army will not need to be as large in the future. However, … Read entire article »

Veteran Justice Department Officials Weigh Need for Special Prosecutor in Russia Probe

President Donald Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey gave more fodder to Democrats, many of whom were already calling for a special prosecutor to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Matthew Whitaker, a former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Iowa, is unsure this case measures up to past cases involving special prosecutors. “Usually, there is some intractable conflict where the Justice Department is unable to do its job,” Whitaker, now the executive director for the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, a watchdog group, told The Daily Signal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); “It’s not so much about the level of evidence or the sensibilities of the case,” he continued. “It’s about the confidence in the system.” In the past, administrations have named special prosecutors that could conduct an investigation … Read entire article »

A 2016 Election Battleground State Is Investigating Potential Voter Fraud

New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate race was decided by little more than 1,000 votes in November, while the spread between the top two presidential candidates was fewer than 3,000 votes. While 458 potentially fraudulent votes aren’t enough to have changed the outcome of either race, the questionable votes prompted an investigation by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and legislation to reform the state’s same-day voter registration. “It’s not enough to change the result of the national level races, but it could impact state or local races that are often decided by just one vote,” New Hampshire Deputy Secretary of State David Scanlan told The Daily Signal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Though New Hampshire is a small state, its House of Representatives has 400 members—the largest state legislative body in the United States. While President … Read entire article »

An upset Michelle Obama wonders who will care about our kids now

**Written by Doug Powers The looming end of Obama-era school lunch regs that were championed by Michelle Obama has displeased the former First Lady, and for the first time in years, she’s not proud of her country’s school lunch direction: Without mentioning President Donald Trump by name, she urged parents to think about the government’s decision and “look at motives.” “You have to stop and think, ‘Why don’t you want our kids to have good food at school? What is wrong with you and why is that a partisan issue?” Mrs. Obama said. “Why would that be political?” “Moms, think about this. I don’t care what state you live in, take me out of the equation, like me, don’t like me, but think about why someone is OK with your kids eating crap,” she … Read entire article »
