No Need To Increase Nuclear Stockpile, Voters Say

Voters strongly believe the nation’s stock of nuclear weapons is crucial to its national security, but they don’t feel the country needs to increase its nuclear stockpile.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 84% of Likely U.S. Voters think the U.S. nuclear weapons arsenal is at least somewhat important to the country’s national security, including 59% who believe it’s Very Important. Only 11% think the nation’s nuclear stock is not important to national security, including just two percent (2%) who say it’s Not At All Important. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on April 27 & 30, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
