Voters Say Islamic Leaders Should Do More to Promote Peace

Most voters continue to believe Islamic leaders should do more to promote peace in their faith, but they are split on whether the religion itself encourages violence more than other faiths.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 75% of Likely U.S. Voters agree that Islamic religious leaders need to do more to emphasize the peaceful beliefs of their faith, a finding that shows little change from previous surveys. Eleven percent (11%) disagree, and another 14% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on May 23-24, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
