Trump on Course to Achieve Conservative Policy Victories, His Legislative Point Man Says

The Trump administration has made good progress on issues of importance to conservatives, despite pushback from the left, the president’s legislative point man told a gathering of Christian conservatives. “Do we have all the major things we wanted to get done, done? No. Are they all in process? Yes,” Paul Teller says. “It’s been like a calm ocean, right? No challenges whatsoever,” Paul Teller said to a laughing audience at the Road to Majority conference, referring to the Trump administration’s first four and a half months. Teller, special assistant to the president for legislative affairs, spoke Friday as part of a panel on the legislative agenda for the next year and a half. This Medication Could Reverse a Third of Abortions

The abortion pill has been around for years and has become a highly common form of abortion. Now, it appears an antidote medication has arrived, and it is already saving hundreds of babies. The abortion pill (mifepristone, more commonly known as RU-486) has been shown in a new systematic review of literature to be effective at killing an embryo if given in doses ranging from 200 milligrams to 600 milligrams. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); But an updated case series, soon to be published, will highlight the success rate of a little-known therapy called the “abortion pill reversal.” This therapy has a 60 to 70 percent success rate in reversing the effects of the abortion pill after it has been taken. The therapy has already led to healthy births in 250 cases after mothers had … Read entire article »

This Key Reform Must Be Central to Any New Tax Plan

As Congress and the president move toward consensus on tax reform, one key reform should remain the centerpiece of any plan that moves forward: making investment expenses tax-deductible. When conservatives discuss corporate tax reform, we have two primary goals: 1) Lower the corporate tax rate as low as possible, if not eliminate it entirely. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 2) Allow businesses to deduct all investment expenses from their taxable income. Both goals would lower the cost of capital, leading to increases in investment, jobs, and wages. Established businesses prefer lower rates, since those benefit existing operations. But the economy, and workers, benefit much more from expensing. A dollar’s worth of expensing gives a much bigger bang than a buck’s worth of lower corporate rates. Expensing will raise wages and increase the number of jobs significantly faster … Read entire article »

The Challenge of Modernizing Nuclear Weapons

The Senate Armed Services Committee hosted a hearing last week on defense nuclear acquisition programs and doctrine. Gen. Robin Rand, commander of the Air Force Global Strike Command, offered a robust defense of the United States’ follow-on intercontinental ballistic missile. He argued that extending the life of the currently deployed Minuteman III ICBMs would not be cheaper than building a follow-on ICBM. Reliability and survivability are increasingly challenged in the current system, which was developed during the 1960s and 1970s. Rand mentioned how U.S. ICBMs complicate adversaries’ targeting because of their quantity and geographic dispersion, also mentioning how they provide the president with a timely response option. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); In combination with other elements of the nuclear triad, strategic submarines, and bombers, the system forces adversaries to spread their resources to take … Read entire article »

Uh oh: DNC better sound the ‘all Hollywood lib hands on deck’ alarm in Georgia

**Written by Doug Powers Georgia’s 6th congressional district election is a week away, and Democrat Jon Ossoff, who polls last week showed having anywhere from a 3 to 7 point lead, is now tied with Republican Karen Handel: A new SurveyUSA poll for 11Alive in Atlanta found that Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel are tied at 47 percent in Georgia’s special House election, one week from Election Day. Another 6 percent of voters are still undecided in the poll, as Ossoff and Handel jockey to replace HHS Secretary Tom Price in Congress. Most recent public polling has shown Ossoff with a slight lead, but both candidates insist that this race is “neck and neck,” as Ossoff said this weekend. Ossoff leads among young people by a 3-to-2 margin and among newcomers to … Read entire article »

‘Red’ herrings: Comey’s testimony continues to wedgie Dem election narrative

**Written by Doug Powers The prospect of James Comey’s testimony last week had the Democrats more excited than Hillary Clinton when her BleachBit coupon book arrived early last year. However, Comey’s testimony didn’t exactly play into the DNC’s election narrative, and there’s this extra bit of backfire for the Democrats: (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ex-FBI Director James Comey has privately told members of Congress that he had a frosty exchange with Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch last … Read entire article »
