Trump’s Immigration Order Took a Second Hit, as Expected. Now the Supreme Court Must Get Involved.

No one should be surprised that a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel, made up of three judges appointed by President Bill Clinton, upheld the injunction on Monday against President Donald Trump’s revised executive order temporarily halting entry from six terrorist safe haven nations. The 9th Circuit panel was simply following the lead of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, which also recently ignored binding U.S. Supreme Court precedent that gives the president the authority to do exactly what he did. This was another political decision—not a legal decision—by judges who seem to believe that they have the right to substitute their judgment on national security issues for that of the president. Despite this latest pronouncement of the 9th Circuit, the president’s actions are lawful and fully within the constitutional authority delegated to … Read entire article »

House GOP Whip Steve Scalise Shot at Congressional Baseball Practice

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., was shot and wounded early Wednesday in Alexandria, Virginia, when a man opened fire at Republican lawmakers and staff during a practice for a congressional baseball game.  President Donald Trump announced on live television at 10:36 a.m. that the gunman “has died from his injuries.” At least four others, including two police officers, were hurt in the incident just outside Washington. Scalise, shot in the left hip while at second base, was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he underwent surgery. “Prior to entering surgery, the Whip was in good spirits and spoke to his wife by phone,”  his office said in a prepared statement. “He is grateful for the brave actions of U.S. Capitol Police, first responders, and colleagues.” Wednesday night, the hospital listed Scalise’s condition as critical. >>> … Read entire article »

The Left Is Trying to Rewrite American History. We Must Stop Them.

George Orwell said, “The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.” In the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, censorship, rewriting of history, and eliminating undesirable people became part of Soviets’ effort to ensure that the correct ideological and political spin was put on their history. Deviation from official propaganda was punished by confinement in labor camps and execution. Today there are efforts to rewrite history in the U.S., albeit the punishment is not so draconian as that in the Soviet Union. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu had a Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee monument removed last month. Former Memphis Mayor A.C. Wharton wanted the statue of Confederate Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, as well as the graves of Forrest and his wife, removed … Read entire article »

The Army Just Turned 242. Here’s How Far It’s Come, and Where It’s Going.

Few American institutions pre-date the founding of our country. Yet on Wednesday, we celebrate the birthday of one of them—the U.S. Army. Tracing its birth to June 14, 1775, the Army originates from an act passed by the Continental Congress authorizing 10 companies of “expert riflemen” to join state militias gathered outside Boston. President George Washington’s appointment as the Army’s commander in chief came the following day. The story of the Army’s 242 years is the story of our nation, punctuated by military operations like the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812, the surrender of the Confederate Army at Appomattox, the successful Battle of Saint-Mihiel in World War I, the D-Day invasion, the bloody battle of Ia Drang Valley in Vietnam, the tough fights in Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan, and … Read entire article »

7 Takeaways From Jeff Sessions’ Senate Testimony on the Russia Probe

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in testimony before a Senate committee, called it “an appalling and detestable lie” for Democrats to suggest he would collude with Russians to undermine the U.S. presidential election. “I did not recuse myself from defending my honor against scurrilous and false allegations,” @USAGSessions says. Sessions himself frequently stirred up Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee when he answered some of their questions Tuesday by saying, “I don’t recall” or “I don’t recall at this moment.” They also didn’t like it when Sessions wouldn’t talk about private conversations with President Donald Trump, whose candidacy he supported early on. The attorney general, a former U.S. senator and federal prosecutor who decided to recuse himself from congressional and law enforcement investigations of Russian interference in the election, clearly took umbrage Democrats’ allegations regarding … Read entire article »

Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to apologize for his public attack on the Christian beliefs of President Donald Trump’s nominee for a post in the Office of Management and Budget. Sanders “responded in anger after Russell Vought, President Trump’s nominee to be deputy director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, answered a question about his belief that salvation is found alone through Jesus Christ,”  the petition drafted by the Family Research Council, a Washington-based conservative policy organization, reads. Over 50,000 petition signatures received so far telling Bernie #NoReligiousTest! Let’s keep this going! Democrats’ Suit Claims Constitution Means One Thing for Obama, but Another for Trump

The Justice Department filed a court brief Friday in support of its motion to dismiss a partisan group’s lawsuit against President Donald Trump for having been a businessman. In the lawsuit, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, alleges that Trump violates the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution whenever any entity of the Trump Organization does any business with any foreign agent. The Justice Department argues that, for a variety of reasons, Trump does not. It also argues that the court cannot hear the case regardless, because CREW lacks standing to bring the lawsuit. The attorneys general of Maryland and the District of Columbia, both Democrats, went to court Monday with claims similar to CREW’s. The Foreign Emoluments Clause, the main provision of the Constitution at issue, reads: [N]o Person holding any … Read entire article »

The Left Was Wrong: Trump Did Not Produce Anti-Semitic Hysteria

As I document in my book, “Still the Best Hope: Why the World Needs American Values to Triumph,” which is an explanation of Americanism, leftism, and Islamism, hysteria is a major tactic of the left. If you think about it, there is never an extended period of time—one year, let’s say—during which society is not engulfed by a hysteria induced by the left. The mother of them all is global warming, or “climate change,” as the left has come to call it (because the warming was not quite enough to induce widespread panic). Hysterics like billionaires Al Gore and Tom Steyer, along with virtually all the Western news media, warn us that the existence of life on Earth is threatened by carbon emissions. But in its longevity, global warming is almost unique among left-wing … Read entire article »

One-in-Four Say They’re Overweight

A new study released this week claims that the United States has the greatest percentage of obese children and young adults, but most Americans don’t think it applies to them. The number of Americans who say they’re overweight has been on the decline since reaching a high of 42% in May 2012. Two-thirds of Americans (67%) say they are not overweight. WaPo, NYT react to attempted massacre of GOPers by slamming ‘skewed electoral maps’ and Sarah Palin

**Written by Doug Powers The dumbest, most pitiful takes imaginable have been offered since a nutjob who hated Trump and felt the Bern tried to massacre Republican members of Congress at a baseball practice. Two of the most prominent stinkers are from the papers with the respective slogans of “Democracy Dies in Darkness” and “The Truth is Now More Important Than Ever” — The Washington Post and the New York Times. First off, a Washington Post author billed at their site as an editorial writer actually dropped this floater in an article about the shooting: The system often feels unfair. Skewed electoral maps favor one party over another. Rural areas are overrepresented. Party fringes often exert more control over the agenda than the broad middle, where much of the country really is … Read entire article »
