Americans Say Sports Are Important for Kids

Most Americans still believe it’s important for young people to participate in sports, though that number’s been slightly on the decline over the past five years.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 82% of American Adults think it’s at least somewhat important for young people to participate in sports as part of their development. That’s down slightly from 84% in 2014
and 87% in 2012,
and includes 37% who say participating in sports is Very Important to children’s development. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
