Nets Forget Obama Admin Championed Bergdahl as a ‘Hero’ Coming Home

In a military courtroom in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina on Monday, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl pleaded guilty to charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy and faces up to life in prison. Back in 2014, President Obama traded five dangerous terrorists to get Bergdahl back. And in a flawed political calculation, the administration championed him as a “hero.” But considering the massive blowback that followed the ill-advised move, the Big Three Networks omitted that from their Monday evening reports. … Read entire article »

Nets Omit Federal Judge Rejecting Menendez Motion for Acquittal

In a devastating day in court for New Jersey Democratic Senator Bob Menendez Monday, a federal judge threw out the defense’s motion for acquittal, which was made last Thursday when the prosecution rested its case. In his decision, the judge noted that “a rational jury could conclude the defendants entered into a quid pro quo agreement.” But despite the damning development, the liberal Big Three Networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) continued their utter denial of the trial’s existence. … Read entire article »

Trump: “Hillary, Please Run Again”

President Trump asked Hillary Clinton to run for president again in 2020 at a press conference Monday afternoon with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. “Hillary, please run again,” Trump said. Trump said there are a lot of reasons why she didn’t win, including she “wasn’t good at what she did,” but being in favor of kneeling during the presentation of the flag and national anthem at an NFL game, would be a campaign killer. Trump also said it’s “that thinking” is the reason why she lost the election. Trump also tweeted a similar message this morning. “If Hillary Clinton actually made the statement that in a form sitting down during the playing of our great national anthem is not disrespectful, then I fully understand why she didn’t win,” Trump said. “I mean, look, there are … Read entire article »

’60 Minutes’: DEA Whistleblower Joe Rannazzisi Saw How Opioid Pills Would Become Epidemic

CBS NEWS: Why has the country’s opioid problem become a national emergency? A high-ranking whistleblower from the DEA explains how the drug industry–and Congress–fueled an epidemic “People are dying.” That’s what whistleblower Joe Rannazzisi told 60 Minutes over and over again. “People are dying.” This week, the broadcast airs Bill Whitaker’s interview with Rannazzisi, a former high-ranking DEA agent who saw the opioid epidemic killing hundreds of thousands of Americans, tried to stop it, and ran into a brick wall — in the form of Congress. … Read entire article »

Trump On Bannon Taking On McConnell, Establishment: “I Understand Fully How Steve Bannon Feels”

President Trump reacted to former adviser Steve Bannon calling for a “season of war” against the Republican establishment in his speech to the Values Voter Summit over the weekend. At a cabinet meeting Monday morning Trump was asked to respond and said, “I understand fully how Steve Bannon feels.” Trump expressed his frustration with Republican Senators “not getting the job done,” and said he is not going to blame himself. “Steve is very committed,” Trump said about his anti-McConnell remarks. “He’s a friend of mine and he’s very committed to getting things passed. I mean look, I have despite what the press writes, I have great relationships with actually many Senators but in particular with most Republican Senators. But we’re not getting the job done. And I’m not going to blame myself. … Read entire article »

Kimmel: Losing 30% Of Republican Viewers Not Ideal, But “Riddance” If You Don’t Want To Watch

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Jimmy Kimmel talked about a potential of losing some of his audience. Kimmel said he saw a study or a poll where three years ago he was equally liked by both Republicans and Democrats and now Republican numbers went down “like 30 percent.” “As a talk show host, that is not ideal. But I would do it again in a heartbeat,” he said about his anti-Republican commentaries. “So you don’t mind if Republicans turn off your show, they’re not watching anymore?” journalist Tracy Smith asked. “I don’t say I don’t mind. I’d love for everyone — I want everyone with a television to watch the show, but if they’re so turned off by my opinion on health care and gun violence then, I don’t know, I … Read entire article »

Nikki Haley: North Korea Deal a ‘Cautionary Tale’ for Iran Nukes

Recalling the foreign policy failures of three past administrations with regard to North Korea, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is suggesting following the negotiating model of President Ronald Reagan instead. “Not so long ago, an American president inherited an international arms control agreement negotiated by his predecessor,” Haley told a crowd of more than 900 in Washington on Monday night for the annual gathering of The Heritage Foundation’s President’s Club. She said allies warned that U.S. credibility was on the line, while the press “warned that if the president did not adhere to the agreement he inherited, there would be war.” Haley was referring to the Strategic Arms Limitations Talks II agreement of 1979 between the United States and the Soviet Union in drawing a parallel to President Donald Trump’s … Read entire article »

New Report: GOP Tax Reform Could Boost Household Income by $4,000

A study released Monday by the president’s Council of Economic Advisers found that congressional Republicans’ tax reform framework would produce thousands of dollars in income growth for American households.   “Reducing the statutory federal corporate tax rate from 35 [percent] to 20 percent would … increase average household income in the United States by, very conservatively, $4,000 annually,” says the report from the advisory agency within the Executive Office of the President. Income increases could reach as much as $9,000, according to the report.   Using 2016 household income as the baseline, these effects translate into an increase in average household income from $83,143 in 2016 to between $87,520 and $92,222, an increase of $4,000 to $9,000 in wage and salary income alone. According to the nonprofit Tax Foundation, the U.S. “has the fourth-highest … Read entire article »

They are joined by Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow Hans Von Spakovsky, who explains why the Founders created our electoral system and how the 2016 election actually shows that it works. The Trump Nominee Poised to Be Point Man on Draining Government Swamp

President Donald Trump’s nominee to run the federal government’s bureaucracy could be a key player in reforming it, and in keeping the president’s campaign pledge to “drain the swamp.” “We don’t see any major draining of the swamp with the massive bureaucracy,” Robert Moffit says. Trump last month nominated Jeff Tien Han Pon, 47, to be director of the Office of Personnel Management, the government’s human resources agency. Pon served in the administrations of both President Bushes—with jobs in the White House, OPM, and Energy Department—and held information technology and human resources positions in several private companies. The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is scheduled to hold a confirmation hearing Wednesday on Pon’s nomination. Pon is largely unknown to those who seek reform of the civil service, said Robert Moffit, a former … Read entire article »

Here’s How the Tax Code Helps Rich Taxpayers in Big Government States Pay Less

As Congress works on tax reform, it is worth noting how politicians and interest groups use the code for their benefit often at the expense of others. Some of the worst abusers are the states. One of the most overlooked issues with federal tax policy is how states exploit federal deductions to underwrite their spending and paper over higher tax rates. Under current laws, taxpayers have the ability to deduct state and local income and property taxes from their income when filing their federal taxes. So if a person making $250,000 a year pays $26,000 in state and local taxes and donates $14,000 to charity, he could deduct $40,000 from his salary. This person would pay taxes on only $210,000. Of course, everyone wants to pay fewer taxes. But under these rules, the wealthy have … Read entire article »

McCain: Abandoning Obligations of Int’l Leadership for ‘Half-Baked’ Nationalism ‘As Unpatriotic’ As ‘Any Other Tired Dogma’

During a ceremony where he received the Liberty Medal on Monday, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) stated that fearing the world and abandoning the ideas that the US has advanced and the obligations of being an international leader in the name of “some half-baked, spurious nationalism,” is just as “unpatriotic” as holding to any other belief sent to the ash heap of history. McCain said, “To fear the world we’ve organized and led for 3/4s of a century, to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain the last, best hope of earth, for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism, cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is an unpatriotic as … Read entire article »
