Paul Ryan on Trump Twitter Fights: “It’s What He Does, We’ve Learned To Live With It”

MSNBC: Kasie Hunt sat down with House Speaker Paul Ryan for a discussion on the president and his relationship with the GOP and his defense of Trump.

Ryan said Trump using Twitter to engage in “disputes” with Republicans is “what he does” and “we’ve kind of learned to live with it.” The Speaker said he has instructed his colleagues “not to get distracted by these things.”

From his interview with MSNBC’s Hunt that aired on Friday:

KASIE HUNT, MSNBC: The president has regularly engaged in disputes with various members, Bob Corker, the most recent, Ben Sasse over the First Amendment. Is that helpful to your agenda?

REP. PAUL RYAN, SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE: It’s what he does. We’ve kind of learned to live with it. He and I have, not on this particular issue, we’ve had our engagements in the past too. It — I don’t think it — what I’m trying to get our members to do is just focus on doing our jobs. We’re here elected to represent our constituents, to advance our principles and pass solutions. That’s what we’re focused on. I try to get members just not to get distracted by these things.
