**Written by Doug Powers Former President Barack Obama is on the campaign trail for Dems, and he’s bringing some wisdom with him: Obama: “If you have to win a campaign by dividing people, you’re not going to be able to govern them. You won’t be able to unite them later” pic.twitter.com/TPAkycVMXQ — CBS News (@CBSNews) October 19, 2017 Obama’s so self-unaware he has no idea he’s projecting, which means at the same time he has no idea just how … Read entire article »

Nauseating: Dem Rep. thrilled by how she just became a ‘rock star’

**Written by Doug Powers In a year where new lows seem to be reached almost hourly, this one might not be eclipsed for quite a bit longer than that: Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson (Fla.) laughed on Thursday that she was now a “rock star” and called it “phenomenal” that she’s embroiled in a feud with the White House over a conversation President Donald Trump had with a military widow. Wilson set off a firestorm this week when she told reporters that Trump upset Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, when he called her on Tuesday night. Wilson characterized Trump as insensitive in remarks she overheard to the widow of the soldier, who was killed along with three others in an ambush in Niger. Wilson then did a series of television interviews … Read entire article »

Bernie Sanders: You should WANT to pay higher taxes (For the ‘free’ stuff!)

**Written by Doug Powers Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz debated about taxes on CNN Wednesday night, and the Vermont socialist senator described the reason taxes on everybody need to go up, not down. Why? For all that “free” stuff: .@BernieSanders on taxes: “Yes, you are going to pay more”But says you will get “free health care, free child care,” kids can go to college — Teddy Davis (@TeddyDavisCNN) October 19, 2017 The crux of Bern-ocracy is that the government should get your money and decide what you need — no thought or freedom required! Heck, Americans should want to pay higher taxes, or so Sanders would like everybody to believe. Hopefully the Democratic Party parrots that message in 2020. Sanders’ attempt to invoke Robin Hood also blew up in his face: **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe … Read entire article »

Cupp Slams Media/Politicians: No ‘Basic Curiosity’ in Niger Ambush

During Wednesday’s edition of Unfiltered, host S.E. Cupp was outraged over the fact that more of the media and Washington’s time had been spent arguing over what President Trump may or may not have said to a gold star family, instead of demanding answers for the ambush in Niger. “It’s a little empty to be outraged over what the President did or didn’t say to these gold star families. If you’re not also asking: Why they are now gold star families,” she lamented to her panel. … Read entire article »

Cruz vs. Sanders: What Is The Difference Between A Socialist And A Democrat On Taxes?

“Let me just ask, since this is a tax debate, what is the difference between a socialist and a Democrat on taxes?” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) asked Sen. Sanders (I-VT) in a nationally televised debate Wednesday night on CNN. “I don’t know the answer to that,” the Independent Senator from Vermont answered. CRUZ: Now, one of the things I like about debating Bernie is he’s honest. When he ran in Vermont, he ran as a socialist, an unabashed socialist. SANDERS: No, I didn’t. No, I ran as an independent. Longest serving independent in the history of the United States Congress. CRUZ: Are you a socialist or not? SANDERS: I am a democratic socialist… (CROSSTALK) CRUZ: OK. Good. SANDERS: But don’t tell them — I didn’t run as a socialist. I ran as an independent. CRUZ: You told people you … Read entire article »

Holder: Comey’s Draft Exoneration Of Clinton “A Good-Faith Assessment” Based On The Facts

Eric Holder defended former FBI Director James Comey’s draft exoneration letter for Hillary Clinton in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Wednesday. Holder commented, “you can make determinations about where an investigation is likely to go before you actually speak to the subject of that investigation.” JAKE TAPPER, CNN: You worked with James Comey when he was the FBI Director and you were the Attorney General. There is a newly released document suggesting he had been working on his statement in May of 2016 before he ultimately cleared Hillary Clinton of any criminal wrongdoing later that summer. I know you’ve been critical of Comey for being as outspoken as he was during that press conference and also the Comey Letter he wrote right before the election. President Trump tweeted that … Read entire article »

From Wednesday’s White House press briefing with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders: PETER ALEXANDER, NBC NEWS: Sarah, did the president speak to his chief of staff, General John Kelly, before invoking his son’s death in what has become a political argument? SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, WHITE HOUSE: I know he’s spoken to General Kelly multiple times yesterday and today. QUESTION: On this very topic? NFL’s Goodell: “Our Fans Expect Us” To Honor The Flag, All Players “Should Stand”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell held a press conference Wednesday afternoon following the Fall League Meeting in New York with team owners. ROGER GOODELL, NFL COMMISSIONER: One other issue we spent a great deal of time talking about this morning was how much we believe [that] everyone should stand for the national anthem. It’s also an important part of our game, that we all take great pride in. And it’s also for us to honor our flag and our country, and we think our fans expect us to do that. And so that was something we continued to focus on this morning. But really talking a lot about with the opportunity that exists with our players to try to go and really make a difference in our communities in a positive way. They’re … Read entire article »

Gold Star Widow: I Never Received A Phone Call From President Trump, I Was Told I Would

CNN: Gold Star widow Whitney Hunter says she was told to expect a call from President Trump within a few days, but the call never came. Whitney Hunter is interviewed Wednesday on CNN: BRIANNA KEILAR, CNN HOST: Well, the White House says there is no recording of the president’s call with the widow of a soldier killed in Niger, even though he teased proof that contradicts a lawmaker’s account and also the account of the slain soldier’s mother that he told the widow he knew what he signed up for. The president also suggested he has called or contacted every family member — or family of a military member killed in action. But when challenged, the White House says he has done so based on the information that the White House … Read entire article »

Why Trump’s Not Replacing Bureaucrats Enables the ‘Deep State’

Hillary Clinton is urging federal workers to stay in their jobs so they can fight for progressive policies again. On her book tour, the former secretary of state and presidential candidate told government workers to “stick it out, stick it out, because the tide has to turn.” “If [Democrats] can take back one or both houses of Congress in 2018, you will have people you can talk to again,” Clinton said. When Donald Trump was elected president, he promised to “drain the swamp” in Washington and return power to the American people. There is no muddier water to dredge than the mostly unaccountable administrative state. Over the course of a century, the federal bureaucracy has become large, calcified, and unmanageable. It now carries enormous weight in crafting, implementing, and adjudicating policies that affect all … Read entire article »

Why Pulling ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ From the Classroom Hurts Students

This year, as in years past, eighth-graders in Biloxi, Mississippi, began reading the classic American novel “To Kill a Mockingbird.” And then, partway through and with little warning, they stopped. Why? Because, according to the school board vice president, it “makes people uncomfortable.” If you attended American schools within the last few decades, chances are you read Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” It is a staple of American literature and a world-renowned classic, having sold 40 million copies since its first publication in 1960. It also won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1961, and the book’s dramatic on-screen portrayal in 1962 cemented its fame. America has overwhelmingly embraced “To Kill a Mockingbird,” so its sudden rejection in Biloxi, Mississippi, is noteworthy. And yet, in our day of hypersensitivity and student coddling, it’s hard … Read entire article »

3 Senators Talk Next Steps on Health Care

As two Senate lawmakers float yet another plan to fix problems with Obamacare, another wants to revisit legislation that he says would more substantially repeal the health care law. “Actually, we could have more coverage under Graham-Cassidy than under the status quo,” Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., said Wednesday at an event hosted by online media company Axios, referring to the bill he co-authored with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.  “For example, if you actually think about what we proposed, we would allow states to do so-called ‘automatic enrollment.’ You’re in, unless you’re out.” Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., who was also at the event, said the bipartisan plan that Sens. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Patty Murray, D-Wash., reached Tuesday represents good progress. “We need to show the American public we can do … Read entire article »

Foiled Terror Plot Raises Number of Plots, Attacks to 98 Since 9/11

The Justice Department unsealed criminal charges earlier this month against three men for plotting to attack New York City in 2016. The plotters were arrested at different times in 2016 and 2017, in different parts of the world. Since this plot occurred in the past and the first plotter was arrested in May of last year, it will be inserted into The Heritage Foundation timeline as the 87th Islamist terror plot against the U.S. since 9/11. This brings the total number of such plots to 98 since. The Department of Justice reports that Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy, a 19-year-old Canadian citizen, and Talha Haroon, a 19-year-old U.S. citizen residing in Pakistan, communicated with an undercover FBI agent in the spring of 2016 via a cell phone messaging application. The two men expressed their allegiance to … Read entire article »
