Clinton Foundation refiles years worth of taxes ‘in the interest of transparency’ (but only after they got busted)

**Written by Doug Powers The funniest part of this story is that Reuters busted the Clinton Foundation months ago for listing zero foreign donations on years worth of tax filings, but now the Foundation is patting itself on the back for being so transparent: The Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation and an associated charity refiled tax returns for six years with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service to amend their reporting of donations from foreign governments and other errors, the charities said on Monday. The foundation refiled its Form 990 tax returns for 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, while the Clinton Health Access Initiative refiled its returns for 2012 and 2013 after Reuters discovered errors in the forms earlier this year. The charities said they were not legally required to refile the forms … Read entire article »

After jihadists attack Paris, a resolute Obama lectures Republicans about intolerance

**Written by Doug Powers At a press conference in Turkey at the G20 summit, President Obama got increasingly irritated with reporters who dared bring up his past references to ISIS as the “JV team.” But Obama reserved his harshest comments for the Islamic terrorists who murdered nearly 130 people in Paris Republicans in America who are opposed to bringing thousands of Syrian refugees to the U.S.: President Obama on Monday ripped Republican critics of the White House’s plan to allow Syrian refugees into the U.S. who have suggested that authorities use religion as a litmus test for who is and is not granted entry. “When I hear folks say that, well, maybe we should just admit the Christians but not the Muslims, when I hear political leaders suggesting that there would be a … Read entire article »

A reminder of the RefuJihadis who have already waged war on American soil

In the wake of the evil, horrific Paris attacks by jihadists who posed as refugees to infiltrate France, we are hearing a lot about what might happen if refugee jhadists — refujihadists, as Brett Smith puts it so well — wage war against American citizens. It’s not a hypothetical. It’s already happened. Multiple times over the last decades. Once again, as I just did on September 11, I remind amnesia-addled politicians and fellow citizens of the bloodshed and terror plots that have already occurred thanks to our blind, deaf, dumb, and out-of-control asylum and refugee programs. Pay attention. America’s Reckless Refuge for Jihad By Michelle Malkin September 11, 2015 Creators Syndicate Copyright 2015 On the anniversary week of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Obama is rolling out the welcome mat to tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees. … Read entire article »

CEO Matt Keezer: FlightHub’s Most Popular US Destinations

The numbers are in for FlightHub’s top US destinations for the 2015/2016 holiday season! In all, 12 US destinations appeared in the top 50 according to FlightHub CEO Matt Keezer, saying “US destinations always do well during the holidays due to US consumers travel habits,” adding “whether for business, pleasure, or family reasons, US consumers tend to be very active at this time of year.” Before we get to the numbers for the holidays, it’s important to recognize how important the tourism industry is to the US economy. According to the US Travel Association, the tourism industry contributed $2.1 trillion to the US economy in 2014, supporting 15 million jobs either in the travel industry or directly tied to it. This accounted for 2.7 per cent of the US’ gross domestic … Read entire article »

Wyoming Renews Efforts to Reform Civil Asset Forfeiture

Members of the Joint Judiciary Committee in Wyoming have chosen to sponsor a bill which will introduce reforms to civil asset forfeiture practice within the state. The bill does not contain changes as extensive as a previous bill in early 2015. In February, both the state House and Senate approved SF0014(“SF14”). The bill would have required a criminal conviction and a sentence of at least one year in prison before property could be forfeited to law enforcement and state authorities. Despite the widespread support for the bill, Republican Governor Matt Mead, a former county prosecutor and U.S. Attorney under President George W. Bush, vetoed the bill. According to Gov. Mead, “Wyoming has passed the test,” and does not have the “abuses found in other states,” with regard to civil asset forfeiture. In … Read entire article »

Obama Mounts Desperation Tour to Sell ObamaCare

An old rhetorical question asks: “If social Security is such a great deal, why is it mandatory?” A topically apt paraphrase of this would be: “if ObamaCare is so good for health care, why is the president still struggling to sell it five years after it became law?” What does it say about a policy that people refuse to take advantage of – and I use the word “advantage” very loosely – without significant arm twisting? Even though it has been made flat out illegal not to purchase health insurance, millions of people are still staying far, far away from ObamaCare’s insurance exchanges, because they know that the legal penalty will actually be less painful than participating in the government-controlled health insurance market. Enrollment numbers for the health care law have … Read entire article »

Obama’s New Climate Goals Could Have Significant Economic Cost

Later this month, a number of nations, including the U.S., will descend upon Paris, France for a week and a half to discuss global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference will take place from November 30th to December 11th, and while most of the event will be used to discuss new ways to mitigate the effects of global climate change, President Obama will be gearing up to discuss the new additions to his climate plan. However, while the commander-in-chief is hoping that a bold climate agenda will spur other nations to take on or continue their own ambitious climate initiatives, the potential economic repercussions may create more of a dissuasive tone; especially for developing industrial nations such as China. Just about one year … Read entire article »

Tell Your Senators to Support the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act

As one of our more than 6.9 million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your senators today, ask them to support Senator Chuck Grassley’s Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act of 2015 “to reform sentencing laws and correctional institutions, and for other purposes,” and to co-sponsor the bill if they have not already done so. The United States imprisons more of its own people than any other country in the world. We spend enormous amounts of money on prisons, yet with little to show for it. Recidivism rates remain high, and prison overcrowding is causing dangerous criminals to be released to make room for non-violent offenders. The money spent on incarcerating the same people over and over again for non-violent crimes could be put to better use in cost-effective crime … Read entire article »

FreedomWorks to Senate GOP Leaders: Put an Actual ObamaCare Repeal Bill on Obama’s Desk

The House of Representatives’ ObamaCare reconciliation bill doesn’t go far enough. The Senate now has the opportunity to improve upon it by sending legislation that fully repeals ObamaCare to the president’s desk. Unfortunately, some Senate Republicans are content to go along with the House’s timid piecemeal approach. FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon commented: “This isn’t rocket science. Republicans told us on the campaign trail that they needed to win the Senate to fully repeal ObamaCare. Well, they’ve had control of the Senate for almost a year, and all they’ve done is pass bills that make their pals on K Street happy, while neglecting one of their biggest promises to the conservative grassroots who worked so hard to achieve victory in 2014.” “ObamaCare is crumbling at the Democrats’ feet. Where Does Your State Rank?: New Report Offers Look at State Civil Asset Forfeiture Laws

The Institute for Justice, a libertarian public-interest law firm, has released an update of its groundbreaking 2010 report, Policing for Profit: The Abuse of Civil Asset Forfeiture. The report offers a detailed look at state civil asset forfeiture laws and grades them based on the standard of evidence prosecutors need to subject property and cash to forfeiture, whether the burden of proof falls on the government or the property owner, and the percentage of funds law enforcement received from forfeited property. There was significant movement on civil asset forfeiture reform in several state legislatures in 2015. In April, New Mexico passed a forfeiture reform law that is considered to be the gold standard. It requires a criminal conviction, or “proof beyond a reasonable doubt,” before property suspected of connection to a … Read entire article »

FreedomWorks to Congress: Pass Audit the Fed

Following the reintroduction of the Federal Reserve Transparency Act by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) in the Senate using a procedural move to bypass committee, FreedomWorks Legislative Affairs Manager Josh Withrow commented: “Why are central bankers like Ben Bernanke and Janet Yellen trying to deceive Americans about Audit the Fed? Because they’re afraid of transparency. The Federal Reserve wields a tremendous amount of influence over the economy and, yet, there is little in the way of transparency and accountability. Audit the Fed would shine light where Americans have been previously kept in the dark.” “The House of Representatives has passed Audit the Fed twice with overwhelming, bipartisan majorities. The Senate, however, has been a roadblock both times. Audit the Fed has been introduced in the House, where Thomas Massie’s bill boasts 185 cosponsors, … Read entire article »

Rand Paul Becomes the Sixth Candidate to Confirm for the Rising Tide Summit

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) confirmed his participation for the Rising Tide Summit, hosted by FreedomWorks, and Congressman Rod Blum (R-IA-1), on Saturday, December 5 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The summit will allow grassroots activists to engage presidential candidates on their plans to grow the economy. Following Senator Paul’s acceptance of the invitation to the Rising Tide Summit, FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon commented: “Rand Paul has proposed an ambitious, pro-growth tax plan – a hybrid of a flat tax and a national retail sales tax – and he brings an important dynamic to the Rising Tide Summit. With six presidential candidates now confirmed, we urge remaining campaigns to join the event so the grassroots can vet their plans to get America’s economy moving again.” Dr. Ben Carson, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), former Hewlett-Packard CEO … Read entire article »

Tell Congress: Support Disapproval Resolutions to Halt Devastating EPA Regulations

As one of our more than 6.9 million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your congressman and senators today and ask them to support the resolutions disapproving of the EPA’s new power plant regulations, H.J.Res. 71 & 72, and S.J.Res. 23 & 24, and to co-sponsor the resolutions if they have not already done so. The EPA rules in question would impose draconian changes on the U.S. energy sector. In addition to enforcing regulatory cap-and-trade requirements and renewable energy mandates on existing power plants, these rules would also set unreasonable CO2 standards for new coal-fired power plants; standards which even existing plants wouldn’t be able to comply with. As a result, these regulations would essentially act as a ban on the construction of new coal-fired plants, because there would … Read entire article »

Obama: 'I don't want to speculate who was responsible' for Paris terrorism

(WorldNetDaily) – All the hallmarks of Islamic terror attacks in Paris, France, on Friday weren’t enough to convince President Obama it would be prudent to use the word “Islam.” Obama briefly addressed the nation on Friday after a string of coordinated attacks prompted French President Francois Hollande to declare a state of emergency and shut all borders.
