Obama Political Advisor: Unemployment Isn’t that Important to Voters

A real howler from The Hill:“The average American does not view the economy through the prism of GDP or unemployment rates or even monthly jobs numbers,” Plouffe said, according to Bloomberg. “People won’t vote based on the unemployment rate, they’re going to vote based on: ‘How do I feel about my own situation? Do I believe the president makes decisions based on me and my family?’ ” The remarks will likely irritate Democrats who think Obama … Read entire article »

Bachmann plays it safe in first campaign ad

Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann has unleashed her first 30-second spot. The ad, slated to air through the weekend in Iowa, takes the slow and steady route. Bachmann begins by covering her birth and upbringing in Iowa, motherhood, and her status as a “former tax lawyer” and a “small business job creator.” Then, she goes in for the kill. After covering everything that makes her relatable to the common man, the congresswoman drives home the fact … Read entire article »

Obama White House: Who really cares about unemployment anyway?

When White House senior political advisor David Plouffe remarked that voters in 2012 won’t be all that concerned with rising unemployment when they cast their vote for president, two things came to mind: 1) he’s out of his mind; or 2) he’s suffering from chronic wishful thinking. I tended to lean toward the latter, although the remarks from Obama’s former campaign manager were hard to ignore. Still, I gave Plouffe the benefit of the doubt. … Read entire article »

Welcome Back McCotter; Update: A few key votes added

**Written by Doug Powers To my recollection, in the years I’ve been writing about the political scene in my little corner of the blogosphere, I’ve only mentioned Rep.
