Another NYC Dem Gets Mugged by Woke Policy: Demands Biden Close Border

“It’s more complicated when it’s about your own children,” said a NYC liberal in 2015 about a diversity plan affecting his kids’ school. Now a Democratic legislator in the Big Apple perhaps could echo that sentiment after her daughter was kicked out of school — to make room for Joe Biden’s migrants.

In fact, states Assemblywoman Jaime Williams, who has complained that the migrant maneuver is “not fair to us,” she wants Biden to close the border.

(Now, there’s a novel idea. Anyone ever thought of that before?)

What sparked Williams’ epiphany was that nearly “2,000 migrants being sheltered in a tent shelter in New York City are being transferred to a nearby high school [James Madison High School], where the students will have to pivot to remote learning due to the disruption it is causing — sparking outrage from residents and local politicians,” reported Fox News Wednesday.

That Williams’ daughter was among the students having to do the pivoting inspired some pondering. As Fox wrote Thursday:

Williams stressed the urgency in combating the migrant surge during “The Ingraham Angle,” warning that the influx of asylum seekers is too much for the city to handle and must be dealt with immediately.

“Why wait till tomorrow? Our districts are benefactors of lawlessness. We can’t wait until tomorrow,” Williams told Laura Ingraham on Wednesday. “We have to turn off the main at the faucet, and that is closing our borders. Plain and simple.”

“There’s no tools to find. There’s no new words to invent. It’s plain English. Close the borders and let’s deal with the situation instead of putting the American citizens in a predicament where you have other people over them. It’s unfair to each and every taxpaying American, not only in my district but in this country,” she continued.

“It is not fair to us” .

Not surprisingly, the irony of a Democratic lawmaker waking up only now to the realities of her party’s immigrationism was not lost on observers.

“Democrats angry at Democratic party policies is like a vegan being angry there is no bacon on their soy burger,” quipped the top commenter under the above video.

“Why would one believe turning their home/city into a sanctuary for criminals would NOT be putting them over their own children?” wrote the number two respondent.

“Did New York forgot [sic] they voted Democrat and the people they put in office did this?” “kbennett531” asked, rhetorically.

Apropos to this, Williams and her co-ideologues would have done well to remember that an “ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” If they’d long ago joined with those who’d safeguard our borders and had made clear that illegal entry cannot be tolerated, they perhaps wouldn’t be in this situation.

What’s actually happening, though, is that NYC Mayor Eric Adams is filing a lawsuit over the migrant crisis — but not against the Biden administration for abdicating its duty to protect our borders.

Rather, Adams is suing the 17 bus companies the state of Texas hired to shuttle migrants to sanctuary cities.

This is akin to punishing a victim. Presumably, Adams (and Williams?) would be happy to continue value-signaling if Texas and other border states were still shouldering virtually all the misery attending the Democrat-enabled Invasion U.S.A.

Adams also, in a striking example of projection, called out Texas’ chief executive. “Governor Abbott’s continued use of migrants as political pawns is not only chaotic and inhumane, but makes clear he puts politics over people,” the Austin American-Statesman relates him as saying in a statement.

The reality, however, is that the migrants are only in our country to begin with because of politics. First, statistics show that upon being naturalized, such migrants will vote Democratic 70 to 90 percent of the time; i.e., Democrats are importing voters.

Second, illegal aliens have in fact cast ballots in our elections, and a 2014 study found that illegal noncitizen votes could be substantial enough to sway elections.

But then there’s what Representative Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.) was heard admitting in a video that just recently resurfaced. “When I hear colleagues talk about, you know, the doors of the inn being closed — ah, no room at the inn — I’m saying I need more people in my district just for redistricting purposes,” she stated.

Redistricting determines how many congressional seats a given state will have; the greater the population, the more seats a state gets. This is why California has 52, while much larger Alaska has only one. But here’s the kicker:

In recent years, Democratic states have generally been losing seats and GOP states gaining them as citizens flee from the former to the latter. This is where noncitizens enter the equation. In “vast numbers,” The Hill pointed out in 2019, “they can dramatically alter the Electoral College to favor Democrats for at least a decade because a state’s electoral votes are based on the number of people residing within that state, not the number of citizens present when the Decennial Census is taken.”

That’s right: Democratic states can get more congressional representation, and more Electoral Votes in the presidential election, based on the presence of illegals within their borders.

Now you know another reason, too, why left-wing politicians offer this foreign electoral army schools, hotels, and parks, and would even like to put them in citizens’ homes. And if Williams and other blue-state residents don’t like it, they should remember that they may not be getting what they want, but they sure are getting exactly what they voted for.
