A Maine Superior Court judge issued a stay on the decision by Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows to block former President Donald Trump from the Maine GOP primary ballot.

Justice Michaela Murphy denied Trump’s appeal of Bellows decision, and also stayed Bellow’s decision to remove him from the Maine ballot. Murphy wrote in her decision that she was declining to rule on the case due to the U.S. Supreme Court considering a similar case where Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold made the decision to remove Trump from the Colorado GOP primary ballot, alleging Trump engaged in an insurrection at the nation’s capitol.

Bellows alleges Trump engaged in an insurrection, and violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. The former president has not been charged with insurrection, and of the people arrested as a result of the events on January 6, none have been charged with engaging in an insurrection.
