Doesn’t give us anything we wanted Republicans are saying it doesn’t do anything and we’re just financing at this point to delinquent government that you know can’t pay its bills basically and it raises the question of course well is it respond imagine you have a cousin right and your cousin’s like
Bankrupt your cousin’s about to default on his debts and your cousin’s like hey what do I do man um you know I can’t pay my car insurance I’m about to lose my house what am I going to do and you’re like well you know you should probably get yourself
Out of debt maybe you know work two jobs and cut your cut your spending and then your cousin comes back the next days like hey good news I got myself out of debt and you’re like oh good how’d you do it he’s like well I gotta I got a new
Credit card and I use the credit card to pay my debts like that that’s basically what our government is doing they’re they’re paying their debt with more debt they’re not actually paying it they’re they’re raising the debt limit so that they are legally allowed to go even deeper into
Debt they need to change the laws to allow themselves to go deeper into debt and that’s the reason why they’re voting on this stuff like if if your cousin was doing this you would call him a deadbeat you would call him irresponsible you would not trust him with your money and
Unfortunately people who should not be trusted with money are the ones making these decisions but regardless let me show you what people are talking about with it I’ll show you the I’ll show you the Democrats first this is representative Jim Holm Jim Himes he told Fox News uh this on Sunday
I’ll just play the clip you can watch it yourself there’s two problems with the bill number one is yeah um none of the things in the bill are democratic priorities you you know what those priorities are because in the last two years when we controlled the house we capped insulin
At 35 for seniors we did drug price controls we passed the biggest infrastructure investment in our country ever we address climate change those are our priorities and not a single one of them are in this bill there’s two problems I mean it’s interesting I’ll show you the Republican side and then we’ll go
I’ll go into a little bit uh epic times has a story and it says House Freedom is which is more like the you know Trump aligned Republicans more like the Maga party right the house Freedom caucus Republicans sound alarm on debt ceiling agreement it says some members
Of the House Freedom caucus said that the that a proposed deal announced by house Speaker McCarthy to raise the debt ceiling for two years which means until 2024 which means Trump has to deal with it if he comes back in or Biden in two more years they’re just pushing it until the
Elections you get that two more years ahead of a possible federal government default doesn’t go far enough and representative Andrew Clyde one of the House Freedom caucus members wrote that he would pass that he would pass on the proposed deal and he wrote on Twitter quote a four trillion dollar debt
Ceiling increase with virtually none of the key fiscally responsible policies passed in the limit save grow act kept intact hard pass hold the line now what that means is that very likely you are going to have some Democrats and some Republicans who do not vote on or who vote against this or
Who abstain from the vote you’re also going to have many who do vote for it and you know the question is well can they get enough votes honestly if you have you know 20 defectors on the Republicans and 20 on the Democrats they’re still going to get the votes for
It and so you know we’ll see what it comes down to at the end of the day the one if someone votes to basically like not fund the government and all the government employees just don’t make money for a little bit um you know of course it’s problematic
For them but we’re also in basically in a correct well we are in a crisis as a country we’re spending more money on interest the interest rates than we are on our entire defense budget let that sink in the amount of money that we pay for our defense department the one that
Many Democrats are like oh well you know we spend this much on that if we redistributed that wealth maybe get rid of the dod some extreme ones are saying this get rid of the dod we’d have all this other money to spend on housing and Welfare and all these other things
Well look we’re spending more than that just paying the banks we’re spending more than that paying the banks because our government is totally irresponsible with money they’re worse than children with credit cards it’s like it’s like if you gave a kid a credit card and they behaved this way you would ground them
You would you would take the credit card away and make them get a summer job to work extra to pay off that debt it’s it’s incredible actually and you know we’re the the big thing is we’re not solving anything we’re digging a deeper hole imagine you’re you’re with a bunch
Of friends and you’re shoveling dirt and you’re 20 feet down right you’re you’re 20 feet down and you’re like uh oh we forgot to dig ourselves a way out well you know technically you know we could dig a ladder or start working the other way but you know that of course means
That we don’t get to dig this hole and then another friend’s like well I got an idea why don’t we dig ourselves out and they keep digging down like that’s what they’re doing and they’re you know Simpsons had a thing like that one time years ago they’re deferring the crisis they’re
Pushing the crisis back and back and back and I’ll tell you right now we’re already spending more money on that growing bubble of debt than we are on our entire defense budget and that is not going to go away we are going to lose that amount of money every
Single year until they deal with the problem until they start cutting things and we’ve seen that Democrats can’t tax their way out of it they can’t you know charge you an arm and a leg more in fact they’re using the money for ridiculous things like giving free hotel rooms to
Illegal aliens and free food like like we’re just handing money out like it’s you know grows on trees and then you have Republicans who are not challenging it who are not getting rid of these things who keep saying they’re going to and they make a big deal about oh the
Debt limit and uh you know this giant bubble being deferred to our grandchildren and children they’re not doing anything about it and so of course you do have people who are unhappy obviously my my personal stance is it’s a crisis and you can ignore that crisis as long
As you want and it is not going to go away not only will it not go way it’s going to get worse it’s like if your leg had a had a wound and your wound got infected the longer you wait the more infected it gets and the longer you wait
The more painful it’s going to be when you try to get it treated when you get it treated it’s going to get worse and worse and worse the longer you wait to face that problem festering down there and there is a festering problem when it comes to of course our debt
At the same time hey good on Republicans and democrats for actually you know working together on something um it’s it’s nice to see them Bridge party lines I and you know frankly doing it in such a way that is not making people on either side of the aisle happy
Which means that both sides sacrificed to an extent some of their interest that’s a good thing but I’m very concerned about this problem that is not going to go away until they face it and neither side seems like they’re interested in facing it neither side is facing it
