The World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations’ main medical arm, is calling for the nations of the world to sign a new Pandemic Accord by May. Critics claim that the accord will further undermine the authority of nation-states in dealing with their own healthcare crises and put an inordinate amount of power in the hands of a globalist entity.
A letter signed by dozens of former heads of state and other assorted diplomats, including the U.K.’s Tony Blair and three former presidents of the UN General Assembly, is urging nations to quickly agree to the new accord prior to the outbreak of the next global health crisis.
“Establishing a strong global pact on pandemics will protect future generations from a repeat of the millions of deaths and the social and economic devastation which resulted from a lack of collaboration during the COVID-19 pandemic. All countries need what the accord can offer: the capacity to detect and share pathogens presenting a risk, and timely access to tests, treatments and vaccines,” the letter states.
According to the letter’s authors, speed is of the essence since we don’t want to be caught flat-footed as we were during the Covid-19 pandemic, with different nations working in different ways to keep any future health crisis under control.
“As countries now enter what should be the final stages of the negotiations, they must ensure that they are agreeing on actions which will do the job required: to prevent and mitigate pandemic threats. We urge solutions which ensure both speed in reporting and sharing pathogens, and in access — in every country — to sufficient tools like tests and vaccines to protect lives and minimise harm,” the letter states.
“We call on leaders of all countries to step up their efforts and secure an effective pandemic accord by May,” the letter concluded. “A new pandemic threat will emerge — and there is no excuse not to be ready for it.”
The writers blamed the all-purpose bogeymen of “misinformation” and “disinformation” for the reluctance of some nations to give up their sovereignty to the UN.
“This global effort is being threatened by misinformation and disinformation,” the letter claimed. “Among the falsehoods circulating are allegations that the WHO intends to monitor people’s movements through digital passports; that it will take away the national sovereignty of countries; and that it will have the ability to deploy armed troops to enforce mandatory vaccinations and lockdowns.”
“All of these claims are wholly false and governments must work to disavow them with clear facts,” the writers averred.
One Canadian parliamentarian claims that proposals included in the current draft of the accord are not only aimed at taking sovereignty from nations over healthcare, but also being rammed through without proper time to study the accord.
“Canada consented to the amendments to the WHO’s International Health Regulations (IHR), which limits Canada’s time to respond to further amendments, despite thousands of Canadians signing a petition expressing their concerns,” Dr. Leslyn Lewis, a Conservative Member of Parliament posted on X.
According to Lewis, the accord would have WHO acting as the sole purveyor of all pandemic strategies.
“As proposed, a legally binding treaty would see power given to the WHO to direct the global health management of pandemics. The treaty will define and classify what is to be considered a pandemic. Once a pandemic is declared, the WHO would require countries to adopt specific response measures,” Lewis’ website states. “The working draft of the treaty also proposes a reporting requirement to the WHO and advises that there should be a ‘global peer review mechanism to assess national, regional and global preparedness capacities and gaps.’”
Lewis also backed a petition to get Canada to leave both the UN and WHO claiming that Canada’s membership in both “imposes negative consequences on the people of Canada, far outweighing any benefits.” The petition has over 90,000 signatures.
Beware of globalists trying to do something they claim will be good for everyone. Be doubly aware when they’re trying to do that thing quickly and without the proper time to study it.
