Democratic Congressional Candidate Wants Trump Supporters in Re-education Camps

Hillary Clinton isn’t the only Democrat who wants supporters of former President Trump imprisoned and brainwashed.

So does Democratic congressional candidate Paula Collins, who’s running against GOP Representative Elise Stefanik for New York’s 21st Congressional District.

She proposed sending those who never-Trumpers call “Trumpanzees” to “re-education camps,” just as Clinton did in October. And it’s of a piece with the increasingly violent, threatening language Democrats use when discussing Trump and his supporters.

Lunatic Proposal

A “cannabis tax attorney,” whatever that is, Collins “made the shocking suggestion during a virtual town hall event on Wednesday and argued that there is a need for such camps even if Democrats see a ‘resounding blue wave’ in the 2024 election,” the New York Post reported:

Collins, 60, argued that “knowing your civics, knowing how the government is set up will be crucially important in moving forward” before suggesting the need for “re-education” during the Zoom event.   

“Even if we were to have a resounding blue wave come through, as many of us would like, putting it all back together again after we’ve gone through this MAGA nightmare and re-educating basically, which that sounds like a rather, a re-education camp,” Collins said. 

“I don’t think we really wanna call it that,” she told voters on the call. “I’m sure we can find another way to phrase it.”

Stefanik was quick to respond.

Noting that Collins is a carpetbagger who didn’t live in the 21st District until she started running for office, Stefanik senior advisor Alex DeGrasse roasted her:

“This radical New York City Democrat Socialist who literally is renting a bed and breakfast room in NY-21 was caught on tape saying she wants to force Trump voters through ‘re-education camps,’” DeGrasse told The Post.

“Everyone knows she will be defeated by Elise Stefanik by a historic margin,” he added. “This is yet another reason why President Trump, Elise Stefanik, and voters in Upstate and across America will clean the Democrats’ clocks at the ballot box this November.” 

Frighteningly, Collins didn’t back down. Instead, speaking to Fox News, she discussed a wide-ranging — and perhaps mandatory — re-education plan. 

“We currently have lawmakers, including Rep. Elise Stefanik, who mis-quote or mis-understand the law,” the “cannabis tax attorney” told Fox News:

Even if MAGA were to be resoundingly defeated, we would need to engage in widespread civics education, which both red and blue voters acknowledge has been slipping in recent years.

The goal would be such that regular citizens could understand the process by which the state courts process matters, compared to the federal court circuit, and so forth.

Echoes Clinton

How much cannabis Collins has been ingesting is unclear, but whatever the amount, she essentially repeated what Hillary Clinton said.

As The New American reported in October, in a gaseous exchange with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Clinton drew a distinction between “sane” Republicans and the Trump “cult” that needed “deprogramming.”

“We had very strong partisans in both parties in the past. And we had very bitter battles over all kinds of things,” Clinton said. “But there wasn’t this little tail of extremism, waving, you know, wagging the dog of the Republican Party as it is today.”

And, sadly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure. He’s only in it for himself. He’s now defending himself in civil actions and criminal actions. And when do they break with him?

Because at some point, you know, maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. But something needs to happen.

A Once-extremist Idea Now Mainstream for Democrats

Yet Clinton wasn’t the first to suggest mandatory “re-education” and all it entails for Trump supporters.

The idea emerged from the fever swamps of the Left, namely the hirsute creatures who ran Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign.

One staffer candidly said they expected gulags, forced labor, and guillotines for the rich and Republicans. A Sanders campaign organizer in Iowa claimed that a President Sanders would institute a reign of terror against garden-variety liberals, too.

The staffer vowed to “walk into that MSNBC studios, drag those motherf***ers out by their hair, and light them on fire in the streets.” Those who survive that murder raid go to the “gulag. Liberals get the wall first.”

Of course, MAGA Republicans would be the main target. A Sanders regime would teach them to “not be a f***ing nazi.” As for billionaires, they would “break rocks 12 hours a day” because “you’re now a working class person and you’re gonna f***ing learn what that means.”

But now that rhetoric is mainstream Democrat. And it’s particularly concerning given that Clinton considers Trump a Nazi, which would mean his supporters are Nazis or Nazi sympathizers.

As The New American reported earlier today, Clinton used the 80th anniversary of D-Day to claim that Trump is literally Adolf Hitler.

“Eighty years ago today, thousands of brave Americans fought to protect democracy on the shores of Normandy,” the election denier wrote on X. “This November, all we have to do is vote.”

If Clinton and the Democrats really believe Trump and his supporters are Nazis, then what the Democrats believe should happen to them is obvious: internment in “re-education” camps.

One shudders at the thought of what would happen to those who refuse to be “re-educated.”
