welcome to Crossroads now you might remember when it all started the United States was looking to land some new trade deals with the Chinese Communist party but now it’s not just about a trade deal it’s about International Wars competition for jobs and also domestic Industries but even beyond that a move to quote unquote drisk by pulling businesses out of the country uh because the Chinese Communist party and its economy right now are slipping even deeper and deeper into decline now part of this picture takes place in China where all the old pillars of economic growth well they’re beginning to crumble let me show you the Diplomat said that now China’s rapid rise you’ve all heard it right the rise of China that’s not happening anymore they’re saying the rapid rise is slowing down and incumbent Global powers that have dominated political military and economic spheres for decades are scrambling to respond and that’s that the unprecedented Chinese ascend y to global economic and military power especially since its inclusion in the World Trade Organization in 2001 led to confusion in responses by the West before the new wave of active competition and and containment it notes further in that with its economic slowdown and the shifting away from reforms China’s economy showed signs of weakness even before the pandemic because the pandemic is when the decline really started to hit they note that it’s working age population has been dwindling for about a decade because they had the one child one child policy where if you had more than one kid you got punished or your child would be forcibly uh aborted sometimes even after they were born they would kill the child they note as well that it’s population now in China as a whole has peaked and India has now overtaken it then that China’s economic slowdown aging population high employment rate and the growing Tong ping it’s called The Life Flat movement where the young are giving up on chasing Prosperity have all exposed economic fault lines and of course when you have an aging population they don’t work as much if at all and of course they need to be taken care of and if there’s no younger generation to work and carry that burden well what’s going to happen to China and knowes further in that The Exodus of top firms from China and the technology restrictions by the US have further dampened prospects because what was China’s economy before it was the cheap Manu manufacturing Hub of the world the manufacturers are drisking they’re pulling their businesses out of China investors are deines out of China and of course the ccp’s hopes of breaking out of that cycle was the high-tech industry but some of the sanctions and tariffs and otherwise against the CCP especially with semiconductors they’re putting a damper on that as well in its attempts to fix all of this the Chinese Communist party was pushing aggressively for business outside of China like the Bel and Road initiative and in the past it was generally understood that the Chinese Communist Party well they use a long list of unfair Trade Practices that benefit China and tend to harm the countries they’re trading with uh maybe it’ll benefit the Business Leaders of the individuals that’s about it they use for example economic theft right the cyber attacks where they were stealing intellectual property and then taking those Products Manufacturing them cheaper in China and then competing with the companies they robbed on the international markets there was currency manipulation which they’re still doing and many other things but now as other countries are facing economic problems of their own right most of the world right now is still reeling from the effects of Co they say and the lockdown policies and otherwise while countries including Europe including the United States are trying to defend their own Industries they’re trying to defend their own jobs and they’re beginning to see the Communist party is a threat to these things and they’re starting to push back the White House in fact issued a statement on this specifically back in May the White House wrote this they said that China’s unfair Trade Practices concerning technology transfer which is economic theft where they were doing the cyber attacks stealing intellectual property and so on and Innovation are threatening American businesses and workers the CCP has become a threat to American industry and American jobs because of these policies the White House also stated that quote China’s also flooding globally Global markets with artificially low priced exports and this of course was an issue we’ve talked about before that part of the policies of the Chinese Communist party it subsidizes products it sells those products below cost sometimes of even manufacturing it puts its competitors out of business it dominates the market then it racks up the prices they are noting this as being a threat to the United States our jobs our companies and our economic growth frankly they note because of this in response to China’s unfair Trade Practices and to counteract the resulting harms today back in May President Biden is directing his trade representative to increase tariffs under Section 301 of the trade Act of 1974 on $18 billion of imports from China to protect American workers and businesses now that push back against the CCP focused on a few key industries that one in particular there’s others as well but that one in particular focused on steel and aluminum you know construction and so on semiconductors which is the foundation of pretty much all major modern technology electric vehicles one of the new areas of competition with Europe the United States and China batteries battery components and parts and other important part with all of that and critical materials solar cells shipped to shore cranes and medical products now look these categories might not seem that significant on the surface right it’s a lot of modern products in other words right the kind of the direction a lot of things are heading into but these actually have deep implications when it comes to CCP policy and this requires a bit of background these products these categories many of them were areas the Chinese Communist party has been looking for decades to expand into these products represent the hope of survival of the Chinese Communist party uh the two major programs he’s would have tied into were project 863 and the other project called made in China 2025 those two programs of the Chinese Communist Party were focused on high-tech Industries uh new materials electric vehicles uh semiconductors which are the basis of course of computers and phones and everything else that was the area the CCP was trying to build even Next Generation Medical Products what they call New materials everything this deeply impacts the entire growth plan the Chinese Communist Party had and also undermine in an interesting way the strategy the Chinese party the Chinese Communist Party had come up with in an attempt to undermine the United States on the global Global markets those products are the ones that were just hit with these tariffs now the CCP slogan on Project 863 and China 2025 the slogan internally was this they would say surpass you at the turning point because when it comes to economic competition This Is How They looked at it it’s very hard to compete on existing products if you want to create an iPhone that’s going to compete with the you know well a phone that’s going to compete with the modern iPhone it’s very difficult you have to deal with of course brand recognition and everything else so you don’t look to compete with the existing product you look at the next wave of products and you try to comp you try to create something that will compete with that once consumers again go to the market and decide whether they want to buy again the next generation of an existing product or something else that’s the turning point they say and the ccp’s plan for you know saving the Chinese Communist Party economically was that and specifically it is that program that is being undermined by these tariffs but even aside from the economic side though the threats to American jobs threats to businesses there’s also the threats to National Security all of this is being looked at right now and the Chinese Communist party’s close cooperation with Russia especially as it relates to the Russia Ukraine war all of this is also coming into Focus so in other words this isn’t just an economic competition we’re in right now this is a competition of nation states this is a competition for Global governance this is a competition for the future system of government for the world this is about the China model and the us-led world order now Reuters noted this they say the United States on Wednesday just recently dramatically broadened sanctions on Russia and it wasn’t just Russia because they say including by targeting China based companies selling semiconductors to Moscow as part of an effort to undercut the Russian military machine Waging War on Ukraine among the steps it says the US Treasury said it was Raising quote the risk of secondary sanctions for foreign financial institutions that deal with Russia’s War economy effectively threatening them with losing access to the US Financial system it said it also said it was moving to restrict the Russian military industrial bases ability to exploit certain us software and information technology services and with the state department targeting more than 300 individuals and entities in Russia and Beyond including in Asia Europe and Africa now it’s very likely the sanctions and the tariffs they’re not going to end with these the trajectory is this is expanding the trajectory is this is getting bigger and as the CCP pushes back it’s going to keep expanding as Russia pushes back it’s going to keep expanding now the state department said during a press briefing just last week in fact that they are considering further actions and that’s their exact quote when they’re asked about these newly imposed sanctions on Chinese companies who are supplying Russia with materials to make weapons and otherwise watch this our hope is that companies engaged in uh rearming Russia’s defense industrial base and bolstering Russia’s industri defense industrial base so it can uh rearm the Russian military that other companies will see the these actions and think twice uh we have made clear our concerns to the Chinese government about the actions that Chinese companies have taken to help re re uh stock the Russian in uh uh the Russian defense industrial base and have made clear that those uh actions um are unacceptable and countries in Europe have made clear the same thing and you saw the action taken by the G7 yesterday including actions that the United States took and we will not hesitate to take from F actions as appropriate now the moves against the CCP so far they focused more on the economy right even though we know the conflict is bigger than the economy even the sanctions even things related to National Security it’s focused on the economy but this trade dispute is actually about more than just business I’ll be talking more about this after a quick break experts agree one of the best ways United States engaged in this trade war against the Chinese Communist party this trade war is also expanding into Europe now tariffs that started under the Trump Administration when the United States was looking for new trade deals with China as we mentioned they have since expanded under the Biden Administration and this isn’t just expanding in the US it’s expanding globally the moves against the CCP so far right they focus more on the economy the Chinese Communist party’s use of cyber theft and other things like like this questionable business practices and also they’re now focusing on the security side with the ccp’s programs notably working with Russia as I briefly mentioned it’s likely these are not going to be easily fixed more than likely in fact these Rifts globally are going to keep on growing you might remember again back in March President Joe Biden criticized the CCP for unfair economic practices and he actually brought this up as well during a State of the Union Address our trade deficit CH is down to the lowest point in over a decade and we’re standing up against China’s unfair economic practices we’re standing up for peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits I’ve revitalized our partnership and Alliance in the Pacific India Australia Japan South Korea Pacific Islands I’ve made sure that the most advanced American Technology can’t be used in China not a lot trying to trade them there the important thing is this though the competition with the Chinese Communist party is not partisan it’s actually bipartisan in fact it’s one of the few issues I’d say Republicans and Democrats tend to mostly agree on uh meaning this is not going to change from one Administration to the next and this is important of course in the broader context of US policy it’s no secret that oftentimes us adversaries if there’s a trade War if there’s some kind of global competition they’ll just wait for our normal election cycle they know that if one party is for something and the other is against something then just give it some time and the policy is going to change but when it comes to this when both parties relatively have similar ideas have similar agreements when it comes to for example how to deal with relations with another Power well that is when things don’t change and when it reaches that stage it means it doesn’t matter who’s in office the policies are going to remain relative ly the same both Trump and Biden and both Republicans and Democrats have maintained pretty strong policies against the Chinese Communist party now that means some other things as well the possibility of course these programs are going to expand it’s not just speculation these programs are going to continue to expand and as they expand of course the trade war and possible other forms of competition with the Chinese Communist Party these are also going to grow the Biden Administration even announced there’s more in the way it works the Washington Post said this they said earlier in her career aradi prakar led the development of the self-piloted ship for a secretive US military research agency it says now she’s the White House’s top technology official the first to hail from a defense background since the Cold War and a representative of Washington’s new Hardline consensus they’re all on board with it Hardline cons census on China the note that her team at the White House’s office of Science and Technology policy now is tasked with thorny questions of how to accelerate us Innovation and Technologies with military applications semiconductors telecommunications and Quantum Computing key areas of course of future technology competition while notably they say curbing us research connections to China without veering into racial profiling right they note that many of these projects will take far well far longer than a 4-year presidential term to accomplish as I mentioned the important nature of the bipartisan agreement it seems right now that the CCP has become a threat to the survival of the United States and is becoming a US adversary this means that of course this system they’ve established connected to the White House itself focusing on high-tech competition with China it’s not just limited to one presidential term whoever comes into office next is also going to have this in place and they note that that is a recognition that the techn technological rivalry with China May last decades as the cold war did they know that her team is already maneuvering to Wrangle commitments from outed Nations to support us Wireless Technologies over China’s for the 6G generation we all heard about 5G right 6G is the next one which won’t deploy until around 2030 they say they note that us officials have been caught flat-footed with 5G with China getting a jump start on 5G research and development and rolling out its networks faster again because the ccp’s ideas with this is surpass you at the turning point they knew that 5G was going to be the next big technology and they were working on that rather than trying to compete on the existing ground they were looking at Next Generation this office with the white house now suggests the US is playing the same game looking at next generation and thinking about competition with China as a fundamental basis of rolling that out now this also blurs to an extent the lines between public and private when the foundations of the Next Generation Technologies are actually government programs to an extent and of course that’s how the CCP works as well uh given the CCP would control the actual businesses much tighter the us while it might create the foundation Technologies might provide it to a business uh but it’s of course not going to regulate them to the extent the CCP does we still have of course a free market in this country but back to the issue at hand when it comes to globalism and global trade it tends to work as long as both parties B benefit from deals that are being made but when it comes to trade Wars well there’s often a battle as well for territory so to speak and when you’re dealing with a trade War what’s the territory well in a trade War the territ Tories are different markets different countries different businesses so the question with the current trade war between the US and China it’s not just about how the United States and the CCP are fighting with each other over this it also ties into how other countries are positioning themselves and the ground being gained either by the United States or by the Chinese Communist party as they compete for different business sectors in different countries now so far it looks like a lot of countries are actually joining the United States in pushing back against the Chinese Communist party on an economic level even more strongly uh that being said the CCB is gaining ground among like you know its block of course China Russia um of course you know North Korea Iran Venezuela others but it’s also facing some troubles with these as well but recently interestingly one of the big focuses is the European Union and the European Union recently followed the United States in putting tariffs on the CCP and the Chinese markets notably they’re feeling the pressure from this The Epic Times said that the United States and European Union have claimed that China is dumping cheap government subsidized EVS electric vehicles and both trading blocks have imposed subsequent countermeasures now the government subsidized issue has been a long-standing issue with the Chinese Communist party in general they haven’t really called it out on this level before they understood it was happening but now they’re noting that this is a violation of international trade rules that if a country is trying to compete on an existing market and you have of course free market companies that need to make a profit what happens when you bring a new product in that is government subsidized they don’t need to make a profit they can fail technically they can bid below cost and because they have that backing them they can go in they can bid below cost they can sell below cost they can put their competitors out of business and then you have a nation state run business that has now dominated a market and put the other companies out of business within a foreign country they’re noting now the dangers this poses to the free market they’re noting the dangers it poses to local jobs and local companies and they’re now putting tariffs on the Chinese Communist party because of this now they note here that in recent years China’s economy has been declining with reduced domestic demand people in China don’t want it either while it’s EV industry electric vehicles has been operating to over capacity this was the surpassing turning point they were looking at EVs and they’re finding of course they made too many of them and they can’t even get rid of them now they note that excess stock has been dumped overseas at low prices crushing other Count’s Industries they State further in that on June 12th after months of Investigation on the Chinese regime’s subsidies of the industry the European commission announced additional tariffs of up to 38.1% on Imports uh imported China made EVS starting in July now a couple things with this on one side this is important we talked about the United States and China as again they point out CCP you know manipulation of markets and unfair Trade Practices you can argue these only really impact the United States and Europe for the most part as we again look at these things but the other side to it is as the US and Europe put tariffs on Chinese products and as they tell the world why they’re doing it it’s raising awareness among other countries even ones that are not part of these current trade battles that the CCP is using manipulative practices that will destroy local Industries in other words all of them are looking at the facts coming out and all of them are now weighing whether they’re trade relations with China are benefiting them or harming them now this being said the Chinese Communist party they were quick to retaliate the regime launched anti-dumping investigations into pork imports from the European Union in retaliation notably against the tariffs on EVs and they’re looking into that and the CCP is also looking into whether the low PR the prices were too low for pork and this is putting pressure on a few countries Spain being one of the biggest because of its import exports to China but at the end of the day look China needs cheap pork a whole lot more than Europe needs cheap electric vehicles from China and on that as well the CCP has been showing signs that the food industry is not doing so well domestically the Communist party has been looking for more sources of food they need it I’ll be talking more about this though after and of course how the Chinese food W and how this relates to the expanding trade war and also how the CCP is looking to retaliate notably against all these sanctions and moves from the trade War all of this will though though be only on epct tv.com that’s our uncensered stream platform of The Epic Times and you can watch that by clicking on the link below if you want to find out more about the Chinese Communist party’s 100-year plot as well to defeat
