Speakers at the Republican National Convention not only shared their support for former President Donald Trump and J.D. Vance but gave a special charge to Generation Z: Revive the nation’s glory.
“Our message to Gen Z is this: You’re going to be the generation that saves this country.” Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate, said. “You want to be a rebel, you want to be a hippie, you want to stick it to the man — show up on your college campus and try calling yourself a conservative.” (READ MORE: Want to Be a Rebel? Be a Conservative.)
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk also addressed Gen Z’s concerns and how the Biden-Harris administration has failed this generation’s desire for success. “To all the Gen Zers watching this convention on TikTok right now… You don’t have to stay poor. You don’t have to accept being worse off than your parents. You don’t have to feel aimless and unhappy. You don’t have to support leaders who lied to you and took advantage of you for your votes,” he said.

Also appearing at the convention were the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill fraternity members, who made headlines for holding up the American flag from mobs who were trying to take it down in early May. “We knew we couldn’t let that happen. We stood guard, we held it up, and we did not let it fall. It was all about respect, not just for the cloth, but for everything that the flag stands for. Too many people have sacrificed everything for it,” one member said at the convention.

Gen Zers who attended the convention were encouraged by the event. “I met many incredible politicians and influencers that I have looked up to since the beginning of my political career,” said 20-year-old Rocklin Youngstrom, chair of the Hawai’i Young Republicans and Page for the Hawai’i delegation. “Gen Z needs to be more outspoken, especially in the Republican party. Tomorrow starts with us.”
Even though 31 percent of Gen Z adults identify as Democrats as opposed to 23 percent who identify as Republicans, Gen Z conservatives aren’t afraid of taking on leadership roles. Just last year, 21-year-old Georgian Brooke Huckaby became the youngest female mayor in American history. Huckaby was elected Republican mayor of Arabi, Georgia, on Nov. 7, following in the footsteps of her father, Craig Huckaby.
“It’s just really concerning to me how people my age aren’t involved in our economy or politics or any real thing going on in the world, and I just wanted to be the one to make that change and take that step forward where other people aren’t,” Huckaby told Fox & Friends. As mayor, Huckaby is focusing on improving the small town with internet connectivity, road construction, and establishing a police department.
This new generation of young voters and leaders is helping make America great again.
