Populist French Presidential Candidate Banned from Running, Under House Arrest – Liberty Sentinel

French populist candidate Marine Le Pen has been barred from running for president or any public office for five years due to allegedly embezzling European Parliament funds. Le Pen, who was well-positioned to replace the term-limited Emmanuel Macron, called the ban “a nuclear bomb launched by the system.” “And if they have used that powerful weapon because we were about to win the elections. We will not allow that to happen. We will not allow the French to be robbed of the presidential elections,” Le Pen added.

President Donald Trump chimed in, calling the situation a “very big deal” and comparing the French plight to the political persecution he experienced, saying the lawfare “sounds very much like this country.”
