Labor Unions

Labor unions represent workers in both the public and private sector. Individual labor unions represent workers in specific industries and function as mediators between employers and employees. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters and United Steel Workers are two prominent labor unions in the U.S. The problem with labor unions when it comes to public sector is that there is no checks and balances. The politicians which fund the public sector labor unions with taxpayers money get kick backs from the same labor unions that they are funding. Therefore, there is no incentive for either party to keep from increasing the prize pool at the expense of the American taxpayer.
