new lawsuits are bringing some attention to the possible dangers of what are known as forever chemicals right now as we speak Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton he is suing Dupont and 3M over products with forever chemicals alleging that a decades long failure to disclose the health impacts and also falsifying their safety is again misled Americans and another news we’re now getting some more details on what actually took place on January 6 going to be a big topic going forward a newly released Inspector General report says that while no FBI employees were technically there at the time there was a presence of 26 FBI classified informants also remember those mysterious drones we talked about yesterday well there’s been an update and the allegation now is these are quote manned aircraft that are operating lawfully interesting right I’ll be talking about these topics and more today so let’s dive into it first of all companies right now are being accused of hiding the dangers of forever chemicals not telling you what they really do to you while selling them to the public and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton well he announced a new lawsuit on December 11th which targets brands that include Teflon stainmaster and scotchguard you might have seen these products you might have them in your home the lawsuit alleges that companies engaged in deceptive trade practices while failing to disclose the the dangers of the products now the chemicals these forever ones they’re called pfas chemicals uh they’re typically called Forever chemicals because they don’t break down they stay around Forever at least as far as we know and they’re used in some household products you might have them in your own house if you have non-stick cookware if you have products to protect clothes against stains some of them may include these chemicals but they’re also allegedly harmful to your health very harmful in fact they’re associ with high cholesterol pregnancy hypertension problems with infants when they’re born cancer thyroid disease and basically a whole lot of other ailments that I can just keep on listing let me show the official statement on the lawsuit this is from the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said this said he announced a groundbreaking new lawsuit against the largest manufacturers of pfas chemicals out these products the companies are 3M and Dupont according to him and the lawsuit is alleging that They carried out misrepresentations and key omissions that they made and advertising the safety of brand names such as teon stain master and scotchguard and knowes that pfas are known as forever chemicals because they are persistent bioaccumulative and toxic they build up and they poison you right and know it’s exposure in humans may be associated with diseases such as cancer and thyroid disease and pfas cont contamination accumulates in animals plants PLS drinking water and human blood over time and notes as well that for decades 3M and Dupont knew about the dangers of these chemicals but continued to Market their beneficial use in ordinary household products according to the filing quote defendants marketed products containing harmful pfas chemicals for over 70 years and were aware of the harmful effects of pfas chemicals for over 50 years despite this defendants continued to market pfas products and chemicals in Texas and elsewhere as safe for Consumer use misrepresent their environmental and biological risks and conceal risks of harm from the public now look this lawsuit follows another forever chemical lawsuit that was just filed as well by Ken Paxton this is against the manufacturers of aquous film forming foam and the this is a fire suppressant foam that’s allegedly tied to various forms of cancer and they were sued over the effects on Texas lands and Waters there’s currently also a class action lawsuit on victims of this as well also on some of these other products but look back to this current lawsuit on these forever chemicals a spokes person from one of the defendants to Pont told the Dallas Morning News that the company did not manufacture some of the products listed in the Texas petition and added quote while we don’t comment on litigation matters we believe this complaint is without Merit and we look forward to vigorously defending our record of safety health and environmental stewardship and notes the other two companies named in the lawsuit that’s cortiva and 3M they did not respond to request for comment but look this also isn’t the only lawsuit they’re facing over forever chemicals in fact these same companies 3M cortiva also another one chores they’re also facing a class action lawsuit over allegedly covering up the health risks of forever chemicals in carpets and rugs sold in the United States and look with the upcoming Trump Administration this is probably just the beginning of lawsuits like this we’ll probably see a whole lot more just like this and also probably class action lawsuits which some of us may join in on right HHS nominee RFK Jr he’s been speaking out about going after many of the harmful chemicals in products uh that includes chemicals and foods but also other things like these this is part of his idea of making America healthy again because he says these products are making Americans unhealthy despite being one of the most advanced countries on Earth we are one of the least healthy of all developed Nations we have some of the lowest life expectancy as well I can say personally I personally avoid non-stick products over these exact concerns I tend to cook with stainless steel or cast iron recommended cast iron by the way and when it comes to to things like forever chemicals and carpets and such I’ve been aware of this this is a big problem uh actually a lot of people don’t realize even a lot of new furniture unless you buy natural furniture they have what’s called off gassing and when you bring it into your home it has an off gassing period and some of the chemicals released during that period are harmful to your health as well it does seem like issues like this they’re going to become part of the broader public debate again this is the beginning of those debates very far from the end of the debates and you know look folks 70 years these chemicals have been in products 50 years the harmful effects have been known according to the allegations for a lot of us that means most of our lives or all of our Lives we’ve probably been exposed to these things now in other news folks uh we’re now getting some more details on what exactly took place during the protest and the riots on January 6th because a newly released Inspector General report is saying that while no FBI agents were present at the time there was a presence of classified informant in fact 26 of them these are confidential human sources and this is from the exact report let me show you it Office of the Inspector General says quote we determined that of the 26 chs’s who were in DC on January 6 in connection with the events on January 6 four entered the capital during the riot an additional 13 entered the restricted area around the capital which was a security perimeter established in preparation for the January six electoral certification and nine neither entered a restricted area nor entered the capital or otherwise engage in illegal activity none of the chs’s who enter the capital or a restricted area has been prosecuted to date bringing attention to while who were they because most people got prosecuted and some of the ones who didn’t seem to be the people people people believe should be prosecuted in fact Now notes the wfo did not know what the total of 26 chs’s would be in DC for the events of January 6 because only four field offices had informed the wafo wfo or FBI headquarters that these classified human sources under the relevant field offices jurisdictions five in total would be traveling to DC on January 6 there was not all the information communicated between all of them the Office of the Attorney uh Inspector General determined that many of these 26 chs’s had provided information relevant to the January 6 electoral certification before the event and that a few of these classified sources also provided information about the riot as it occurred now the report gives some details on these sources there’s still a lot were not being told and notes that one of these individuals these classified human sources was in cont with the leadership of the oathkeepers one of the groups that was heavily targeted in the again prosecutions afterwards that there was discussion of their plans to travel and so on they also had discussions with the proud boys another group that’s has been heavily targeted that had a presence there on January 6 now it notes that one of the confidential human sources had said that they were concerned for the safety of members of Congress that day the report also States quote we found no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds or at the Capal on January 6 but it also notes quote we determined three chs’s who had been had been tasked by the FBI field offices in the days leading up to the January 6 electoral certification with the required approval of the wfo to travel to DC for the events of January 6 to report on domestic terrorism subjects who were possibly attending the event now look uh details on this they’re going to become increasingly important especially as president-elect Donald Trump is saying that he’s going to Pardon all the J Sixers potentially maybe not the violent ones but he’s kind of getting a gray area here he’s suggesting day one of his administration he’s going to Pardon possibly all of them Trump is also going to be looking with his incoming Administration to investigate possibly what actually took place that day yes we had some investigations many people in in his administration alleg that there are problems in the way those investigations were carried out and there may even be some prosecutions of the people who carried out this investigations as well including in the house now some of the other point points are there was not enough security provided that day and there could be some investigations as to why that was Cash Patel notably Trump’s nominee to FBI has been raising concerns about this since it first happened now there are also a lot of other questions not just about the groups like The Proud boys and the oathkeepers many people want to know well what about antifa what about the farle groups because we do know for a fact that at least some of the individuals who were arrested had ties to antifa meaning these were not the altright folks these were the far-left folks and it may be an important point of discussion maybe on whether there were any Communications or activities among those far-left groups as well again like antifa and also what were the exact roles these classified human sources were playing inside the capital and in areas they weren’t supposed to be in we will probably again be getting more details on this because as with other things this is the beginning of Investigations not the end of it now another news the president of South Korea Yun sukul he issued a public statement on why he briefly invoked martial law on December 3rd people want answers on why it happened it was a very strange incident for many watching it he’s now talking about publicly why he did it he vowed that he is going to fight to the end alongside the people in Korea and alongside his supporters and in response to this the opposition has attempted to impeach him but failed to get enough votes at least so far now it does seem other attempts are under way there’s kind of a battle in the political system in Korea right now you could argue both sides are alleging a coup the right says the left is launching a coup the left says the right is launching a coup here’s what some of what the president said there in his speech this is the official translation from Korean he said I stand here today to clarify my position regarding the Declaration of Martial law the opposition parties are currently going berserk claiming that the Declaration of Martial law equates to insur direction is what they claim true who are these forces paralyzing state affairs and disrupting the constitution of the Republic of Korea he said over the past two and a half years the opposition parties controlling the National Assembly have refused to recognize the president elected by the people and have continued agitating to remove and impeach the president it means that they refuse to accept the results of the presidential election and since then he alleges as many as 100 78 rallies have been held to call for the ouster and impeachment of the president in other words we watched him declare martial law and they try to impeach him afterwards he’s alleging that they’ve been trying to remove him this entire time 10078 rallies and Counting he states that in a bid to paralyze state affairs they have PE they have pushed to impeach dozens of government officials since the launch launch of his administration he says they Impe impeached officials uh the impeached officials are suspended from office for a long period of time until the verdicts are handed down even if they are found to be not at fault in other words by threatening these investigations and using them they freeze the government they make it so the government can’t function he’s alleging he states that even before impeachment proceedings began after the motion was proposed many officials voluntarily resigned from Office they’re afraid of the investigations possibly or they don’t want to deal with it he says quote Reckless attempts at impeachment have paralyzed state affairs now he goes on to allege that the country’s opposition has paralyzed the country essentially created a national crisis that is undermining the Constitutional order of the country South Korea and is also representing a type of disruption and disintegration of the state he also details issues notably on foreign subversion he notes in particular a case of Chinese Communist Party spies who were caught operating in South Korea and he says despite the fact that they caught these Chinese spies quote under the current law there is no way to punish foreign Nationals for Espionage and to prevent this kind of situation he says I tried to amend the Spy related article of the criminal act but the huge main opposition party has adamantly blocked it now look I can say personally I was in I was in South Korea doing investigative reporting into Chinese Communist Party subversion I was shocked at the degree to which Chinese agents are operating in South Korea myself as a foreigner I uncovered a massive picture of multiple Chinese agents operating front organizations in South Korea it is a very large program in just a couple weeks I was able to uncover a very large Chinese spy Network there there is rampant Chinese Communist Party subversion in South Korea to the extent the Chinese Communist Party agents are bribing officials they’re threatening officials and there’s very little that they can do about it because under South Korean law as it currently stands law enforcement systems can’t act on it because of the regulations and the president’s alleging that he tried changing those legisl Tri tried changing the law on that to make it so they could go after these Chinese spies but the efforts to do that are being blocked in other words the country is being subverted and there’s nothing they can do about it because the actions are being blocked now he goes on to detail other National Security threats including subversion from North Korea and he notes he’s not able to fully detail what’s currently taking place because you know the I guess secret of what’s going on but he says that he felt it necessary to declare martial law in light of these problems because it’s the only way to bring attention to the seriousness of the issue not just about South Korea but for the United States and its allies as well he’s noting this is a global security issue not just a South Korea issue he States quote the opposition parties are now trying to drag me out of the presidency by accusing me of a serious crime he says what will happen if the country is governed by a destructive force that abuses the Constitution again he alleges but he continues stating quote unconstitutional laws self- exonerating laws and economy destroying legisl will be rammed through the National Assembly and completely destroy this country he says nuclear power and semiconductor Industries and other future growth engines will wither and chinamade solar power facilities will destroy forests across the country the R Us Alliance again South Korea us Alliance the Rus Japan cooperation the foundations of our security and economy will be undermined once again again he alleges and he States as well that North Korea will further Advance its nuclear weapons and missiles posing greater threats to our lives then what will become of the future of this country the Republic of Korea he says our country will become a place where spies run rampant drugs ruin future generations and organized crime takes over and so those are his points over why he felt it was necessary to declare martial law now again the opposition party they would argue otherwise they’re accusing him of trying to overthrow the Democratic order of the country both sides have some accusations along these lines but he’s also alleging that the stability of Korea also affects the safety of the United States and he’s pointing to the seriousness of the threats they’re facing from foreign subversion namely from China and from North Korea and what that could mean for the future of South Korea now like other news remember those mysterious drones we talked about yesterday well there’s has been an update and they are allegedly manned aircraft that are operating lawfully interesting I’ll be talking more about this after we come back from a quick break so don’t go anywhere we’ll be back in less than 60 seconds experts agree one of the best answers over these mystery drones flying all over the United States uh it turns out that these mystery sightings especially in Jersey well the mystery may be solved at least to an extent because let’s put it this way the answers we’re getting kind of raise more questions than give us answers to anything this was detailed in a Thursday press briefing from the White House National Security Communications adviser John Kirby watch this we have no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or a public safety threat or have a foreign Nexus the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are investigating these sightings and they’re working closely with state and local law enforcement to provide resources using numerous detection methods to better understand their origin using very sophisticated electronic detection Technologies provided by federal authorities we have not been able to and neither have state or local law enforcement authorities corroborate any of the reported visual sightings to the contrary upon review of available imagery it appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft that being operated lawfully the United States Coast Guard is providing support to the state of New Jersey and has confirmed that there is no evidence of any foreign-based involvement from Coastal vessels and importantly there are no reported or confirmed drone sightings in any restricted airspace now that said we certainly take seriously the threat that can be posed by unmanned aircraft systems which is why law enforcement and other agencies continue to support New Jersey and investigate the reports even though they have uncovered no malicious activity or intent at this particular stage while there is no known malicious activity occurring the reported sightings there do however highlight a gap in authorities and so we urge Congress to pass important legislation that will extend and expand existing counterd drone authorities so that we are better prepared to identify and mitigate any potential threats to airports or other critical infrastructure and so that state and local authorities are provided all the tools that they need need to respond to such threats as well so look he’s saying the drones are actually quote manned aircraft that are being operated lawfully so technically what does that mean that means they’re not drones these are aircraft with Pilots inside manned aircraft right there’s Pilots they’re operating lawfully that means that they’re either licensed or approved that again they have FAA clearance or possibly that again you know they’re something but they’re allowed to be operating it’s legal it’s lawful these are not foreign meaning it’s not another country these are good old American aircraft and we’re not being given answers on what they are but as John Kirby also notes quote right well he says that they’re taking steps to counter these drone uh drone authorities right they’re looking at different ways to respond to these types of drone incursions and this is interesting because what he’s suggesting is is the aircraft people are seeing right now they’re manned there are pilots inside they’re operating lawfully they’re not really telling us what this is or why it’s happening or why there’s so many of them and why they do it night by night but he is saying that the concerns over this are going to spark new legislation possibly where the government is going to be looking at giving officials ways to shoot them down or ground them or whatever else we could see new legislation regulating drones especially in sensitive areas because of the concern that has been sparked by these aircraft but look anyways at least partially the mystery is solved we still don’t have answers on what these aircraft are we still don’t know why they’re being flown like this we don’t know why it’s being done in such a secretive manner that Governors and sheriffs are concerned about it trying to track what’s really going on with it and they’re not being told at least not on what we know what’s actually happening and the the public is not being fully told what’s happening in a way that would quell fears um something’s going on uh but the government seems to be not too concerned about it they’ve repeatedly said these things don’t pose a threat they’re now saying again these are lawfully run flights that have Pilots inside um we don’t know why it’s happening right uh but folks we will probably get more answers on this because it’s sparking a lot of concerns even despite all this I see some of you in the chat are actually saying that you saw some of these things maybe afterwards we get to Q&A can we can talk more about that but look in other news there have been reports going around that the president elect Donald Trump he’s planning to cancel a a trillion dollar contract with defense manufacturer locked Martin to purchase F35 fighter jets and Lockheed Martin responded to these allegations and they’re saying simply quote this is false reporting and fake news suggesting no Trump is not suggested he’s going to cancel these contracts well look the high cost of fifth generation fighter jets that’s the F-35 that’s the F-22 these been points of debate when it comes to defense spending they cost a lot of money and you don’t get a lot of them right some experts have alleged that the future of War fighting should be more focused on drones unmanned vehicles and stuff like that they should be focused on lower cost and greater numbers of weapons and this has become a particularly a particular Point given what we’ve been watching in the Ukraine war we’ve gotten to see for example how American tanks Faire on the modern battle Battlefield and what we’re seeing is the bigger the asset the bigger the Target and the more expensive it is well if it can be destroy easily by a drone was it really worth it this whole time if if you know a few hundred drone can drop a little bomb on a multi-million dollar tank and blow it up in an instant was it worth it in the end well drones have become a key part of the battlefield and that’s why people are looking at them uh personally I would add to this debate though you know with epic times I’ve been a national security reporter also for a very long time and I follow a lot of military news and I have been for a very long time the real benefit of fifth generation fighter jets is not what’s being discussed on these kind of surface level capabilities the real benefits are stealth long range capabilities they can hit targets so far out that they can’t even see them also they integrate with other key weapon systems like submarines for stealth missions and so on they’re capable of special missions they’re capable of things we’re probably not being told about they have massive capabilities for data Gathering as well you can fly a fifth generation jet in a very stealth Manner and basically just scoop up all the information being fielded in that entire war zone and we don’t even know the full capabilities of this but that’s the B that’s the main benefit of it I would also personally add something else which I believe is the most important Point electronic warfare now I personally believe that electronic warfare is going to become one of the most important areas of Next Generation battlefields this includes technologies that can alter data being collected you can alter data uh being collected going into assets Like Satellites and otherwise you can also you can also alter data as it leaves those assets using electronic warfare there’s a whole Battlefield over that it could also mean seizing control of something like a drone and more importantly I’d say it includes things like EMP weapons these are likely going to be some of the most important things we’re going to be seeing on the future battlefields especially when countries like China are looking at drone swarms the US Military and defense defense contractors they have demonstrated even in public videos some of the capabilities of EMP weapons uh in fact so Advanced that you know fighterjet carried EMP weapons are so precise that they can destroy the electronics on a single floor of an apartment building uh there are videos where they demonstrate these capabilities imagine if your adversary has spent all their defense budget to buy a million drones and they have a million drones heading towards you and you hit it with one of these publicly demonstrated EMP weapons and all those drones just fall out of the sky that’s what modern war looks like if you have these capabilities bringing to the point the importance of fifth generation Weaponry one of the most important parts about fifth generation and also 4.5 generation fighter jets is they are hardened against electronic warfare and I would say in the future anything at least with Advanced countries fighting anything that is not hardened against electronic warfare can be brought down with the em with an EMP weapon like a fly running into a zapper uh it’s like nothing a country could spend their entire defense budget and buy a billion planes and if you have an EMP weapon you can fry those electronics and those planes and the entire defense budget are going to fall out of the sky like they’re nothing that’s why EMP we weapons matter and also that’s why hardening against those weapons matter fifth generation 4.5 generation have hardening like that uh personally I think this is my analysis right I think these are the reasons why the F-35 and the F-22 are going to remain important parts of the US Arsenal despite the price tags and again we’ll see what happens with this but uh the they’re now working on Sixth Generation fighter jets as well now and again the future battle fields are currently being formed folks that said uh like this video uh leave a comment and let’s jump into some questions so let’s see here let’s see B Douglas you’re saying I have a feeling that drone Warfare is the future in a few iterations the technology is Advanced will advance to create the most versatile and dynamic War tool ever made without a doubt there becoming they’re becoming very common on the battlefield um I’m sure many people have seen the videos I mean it’s kind of terrible these days that because of the internet like we can watch videos from war zones like they’re like like they’re like just YouTube clips or whatever it’s just normal for us now but I’m sure many of you if you’re on YouTube or elsewhere you’ve probably seen videos of the Ukraine Battlefield where you have fighters on both sides using little you know mail order drones couple hundred drones to drop bombs on troop positions the other big thing drones are doing is they’re doing Battlefield reconnaissance for example a drone operator flies one in the air and they get an eye in the sky and they can communicate with the troops on the ground saying hey next trench over because a lot of it’s trench warfare next trench over there’s an enemy hiding there toss a grenade be careful or whatever else um they can go further ahead and see okay there’s a tank here there’s artillery here these are the key targets they can call them the coordinates for you know their own artillery or whatever else and bomb them they can also carry out operations High explosives and blow those targets up uh drones without a doubt are becoming a big part of the battlefield I’ve read some reports about some of the electronic warfare components being fielded in Ukraine right now uh one of the allegations from the Russian side because I’ve read some stories of them kind of terrified about this stuff they’ll say the ukrainians when they have drones coming in it’s usually a swarm they can knock out some of them using their the equipment they’ve been given but not all of them and so they can knock out a handful of them but the remaining ones will come in afterwards and so there are ways they have of getting around some of this technology I would argue they’re probably not being given the real advanced stuff one of the big points Ukraine has brought up is they don’t really have air support and this is is where it gets important when it comes to the US military the way that countries right now are using drones is similar to the way the US uses air support and what’s been known I’ve talked to Nato guys about this for example when they talk about the real strength of the US military a lot of them say air support is the real strength of the US military you can have a squad of five 10 guys and they have the strength of the entire us military behind them because they can call in Naval bombardments they can call in you know warthog strikes with you know the A10 planes uh they can call in other jet strikes and so on and so even though it’s a very small number of guys they have the capability of fighting much greater numbers of enemy troops um a group a small group of guys can take on a very large uh conventional fighting force because of the support they’re being given other countries at least none of the ones we’ve been fighting for the most part really have that type of air support Russia does to an extent um but really most of them don’t uh really right uh and especially not up to not up to the level of capabilities the US has and that’s why I think we’re seeing drones play such a major role because that’s kind of the best thing they can feel they can come anywhere close to our Jets and a10s and everything else um the other thing of course is is satellite imagery and they have some pretty good stuff with that and also the command and control systems of the United States these are these are the real game changers we have and even things like night vision and stuff these are the game changers in the modern Battlefield that being said there are other things that people aren’t talking about for example you know some of the things that were demonstrated in Syria with the with the fighters there is they were getting guns and they were putting basic electronic components in place where they could have remote control guns and imagine you have a machine gun or a sniper rifle that has no Gunner present the Gunner is hiding in cover and he is manipulating the gun and zooming in and using his smartphone or a computer to control the movements uh some people have even found ways to uh wire the facial recognition Technologies of smartphones and use them as targeting devic and what does your phone what does your smartphone do it locks in on faces what happens if you make a gun so it can Target based on facial recognition technology well as quickly as your phone can spot a face your gun can Target ahead and you know they have developed low low Tech right these are low Tech terrorists in some cases theyve found ways to weaponize this stuff now this has in fact put a very a very high level of capability in what are otherwise very low capability fighting forces because of the availability of these tools uh because of the different ways you can use them and it has given small relatively low Tech squads and you know troops very high tech capabilities that being said it comes nowhere close to the current capabilities of the United States and you know of course when we watch these things we’re like wow we should do that too our capabilities are Leaps and Bounds beyond that already and and that’s what’s not included in a lot of the discussions uh our capabilities are already Leaps and Bounds beyond that and again I would bring up the point even aside from EMP weapons the other side has to do with the actual battle for electronic spectrums and this is this is a part of electronic warfare that most people have no idea even exists there are ways to control bandwidth or fre not bandwidth frequencies there are ways to control frequencies the way that um Let me let me give an example how many of you have been at a very large event and you’re not able to use your smartphone uh you can’t make calls because there are too many people present on the lines and the lines are overloaded different lines have different capacities to carry communic ation uh military Communications often operate at different levels of frequency you’re you’re looking at like extremely higher extremely low frequencies some of these can also be weaponized which is where you get things like microwave weapons EMP for example and other things uh you can actually weaponize frequencies right nuclear is technically a weaponized frequency for example as is again you know Sonic weapons that is the weaponization of a frequency uh there’s the Sonic spectrum of sound and there’s the electromagnetic spectrum of light and different bandwidths are different frequencies of that have different capacities basically with Communications radio WiFi and so on uh you know this is why they talk about you know 5G or 4G or 6G or whatever else those those are different frequencies right you can weaponize those and not only can you weaponize them you can you can make it so that you deny your adversaries access to entire frequencies electronic warfare gets into that level of it we’re not watching these countries carry out those types of operations because they don’t have those capabilities the American fighting force does as do a few other very Advanced countries but future warfare would include that which is the problem you get into when you’re talking about hey we should just buy a whole bunch of cheap drones China’s doing that if they went to war with America they they’d run into the issue of electronic warfare very quickly um and and that’s kind of the other side of it not to say that we’re not looking into drones as well I’ve mentioned before the US strategy of what they call the hellscape hellscape strategy which is drones in the air on the surface of the oceans and under the water uh which would include we would assume some element of electronic warfare to support them as well excuse me uh Jeremy Barker you’re saying you can thank political lobbyists for all these chemicals and our food and environment that is true uh you know lobbying lobbyists have brought about a bit of a problem for this country and there are different arguments on to what degree should it be allowed to happen because look part of the benefit of having a system of government is that Representatives as we call them elected officials they represent you they represent groups of people and if you’re running for office you need support not just ideally from individuals but also groups of people this is why politicians will try to get the backings of unions for example because a union represents a collective a very large group of potential voters who will get behind you not just going for individuals uh this is why for for example they try to get the backing of major businesses because they need campaign funds and the businesses will pay for the campaigns something left out of this discussion as well is that because of the party system Democrats Republicans Libertarians whatever else uh there are also requirements of elected officials to get certain amounts of donations from uh for the party itself which is why they’ll have to hold dinners and do other fundraising events for the party not for them in their campaigns but for the party the party needs money now part of the problem that comes about through that is that you also have people saying well look if I’m going to vote for you I want you to do this you know this is part of the exchange it’s not necessarily all corruption as people might think it is look if I vote for somebody I want them to represent the issues I care about me as an individual what do I care about well I I care about low taxes you know personally because that’s what affects my life livelihood um I care about Law and Order I care about you know not pushing crazy stuff on my kid you know what I mean uh I care about that stuff I care about education I care about you know things that impact my basic quality of life those are my concerns as an individual what does a union care about a union is going to care about pensions a Union’s going to care about contracts they’re going to care about the jobs they can get they’re going to care about the issues is related to their industry they’re they’re going to give them more power because it’s personal interest driving it what does a business care about they care about regulation and some people may say well they might want less regulation some businesses want more regulation because it helps them kick the ladder out from under them so newcomers can’t compete with them right because some of the biggest ones they can afford to have an army of lawyers uh who can defend them in litigate cases but also go after after their competitors and file cases against their competitors to put them out of business business Warfare has a whole whole different Spectrum to it um and a lot of that is waged through PR information and through law right and so they care about that stuff what happens then when you have a politician who has to get voters and has to get donations and they’re basically being told you’re not going to get voters or donations unless you give these people what they want well that’s when they start changing laws that’s when they start maybe making some uh some roads open to allow a chemical company to put their chemical byproduct in food even though Studies have shown it’s harmful that’s when some of them may allow stuff to happen that should have never happened and the other side of it too is that some companies will try to get doctors to endorse them they’ll try to get dentists to endorse them they’ll try to get experts in the fields to endorse their product because that looks good and then when they go and Lobby these public officials they they could be like look I have you I have a hundred doctors who say this thing safe give us the green light for it it’s not going to hurt anybody uh there are some minor health problems but it’s so rare it shouldn’t be a problem and the politicians like well you know I’m not going to be able to win this election without this signed done right uh lobbying does create a lot of problems like this a solution to this I don’t know I don’t know what the solution to this is because it is also built into the way that you know you and I can demand change in laws and so on as well right it takes advantage of kind of the openness of the way that just politics work and you know should it be that politicians can’t listen to people or meet with people like should that be the case uh you know you could hypothetically put some restrictions on lobbying but it’s not going to get rid of the whole problem really especially because they’ll just find other ways because if you’re going to get voters if you’re going to get donations you need to talk to people the other possibility is you can make different laws on campaign finances that is a that is a possibility because we do have some issues I believe with campaign Finance law you or I cannot donate more than a certain amount to a political campaign uh it varies depending on State and it varies also depending on the office um I know you know for example a city council member you might be capped at donating you know $500 or $1,000 and if you donate more than that you go to prison remember the Obama Administration put put denes tuuza in prison for donating too much to a campaign they normally don’t do that but they did put him in prison for it but you can have a billionaire donate like $400 million to a campaign how do they do that well they go in a roundabout way they don’t donate to the campaign itself they donate to third-party Grassroots organizations or they just pay for one to operate and those Grassroots organizations carry out the acts that a campaign would normally carry out on their behalf and so the political campaign you know if they’re running their campaign they need people doing polling and they need canvas ERS and they need advertisements and they need that kind of stuff but a private organization can do that exact same work they can make advertisements you know paid for by this organization they can do commercials they can do canvasing they can do voter registration they can do all of that how do you regulate that um would it be then IL legal if me as an individual if I was like well you know I care about this issue I’m going to buy a billboard and and say I care about this issue should I be stopped from doing that if I want to have a nonprofit organization I’m not doing this I’m just saying hypothetically right if I wanted to have a nonprofit organization doing voter registration drives should I not be allowed to do that as an individual that’s where you get into these problems you know what I mean and so how do you how do you deal with that uh maybe there does need to be legislation the reality with legislation is sometimes it creates more problem and it fixes you know what I mean but but you know it’s interesting now seeing that he used to be the Republicans because you know Mark Zuckerberg and the Zuck bucks issue Republicans were saying that these billionaires are basically winning the election for the Democrats this time around because of Elon Musk the Democrats are saying the billionaires are winning the elections for the Republicans uh both sides have brought up the issue that I just raised basically and saying that the you know should it be allowed that the wealthiest people people can really impact the outcome of a campaign should that be allowed well I think both sides have raised concerns with it but the question is what you know how do you regulate it how do you how do you even go about that without damaging the rights of the individual to engage in these things uh let’s see here Ashley from cforia you’re saying obesity in America doesn’t help but making processed food addictive with poison yeah well you know the other thing is too some people would argue that well maybe the problem is we just eat too much I would argue if you look at the diets in some countries they eat a lot of food yeah you have a lot of food cultures right Italy is a food culture a lot of Asian countries are food cultures you know a lot of the social environment revolves around food they’re Foodies right a lot a lot of traditional cultures are Greece is like a food culture it’s fantastic right uh but the people are not fat they’re not overweight typically they don’t really have the kinds of health problems we have when it comes to diet they love eating they eat a lot of food but for some reason they don’t gain weight and then suddenly when you start bringing processed food into these countries you start seeing the same problems of obesity that we have why is that that does raise some concerns over whether well is it the type of food we’re eating not so much the quantity is that the problem uh some people do point out that the serving sizes of food in America are pretty big but look if you go to some countries you’ll find pretty big serving sizes also go to Greece they have big serving sizes um look at Italy where it’s like a pasta culture people talk about carbs how much how much carbs do they eat they don’t have a problem with this um you know that is that is one thing people bring up some people say it’s the snacking culture in America some would argue that if you snack between meals you’re you’re going to gain weight um and some countries do not have snacking cultures I point to Asia where they they have snacking cultures people eat a lot between meals and they don’t get fat that does bring up about the question of well again is it an issue of processed food and the chemicals and processed food and the way it’s being done and your bodies can’t you know digest it properly so your body stores the stuff it can’t digest becomes fat and even and this is the irony of that is that even though even though you’re gain G weight you may actually be starving because your body is not metabolizing stuff you can eat a ton of food right this is the other argument with it you can eat a ton of food and not feel satisfied and not feel full because the way your body metabolizes it and unless unless you’re literally starving your body is not going to attempt to metabolize the stuff because it’s garbage because it’s junk right your body doesn’t want to use it because it’s not good for you um and the other side too is because a lot of junk food has been you know synthesized in such a way because it’s like lab stuff it’s been synthesized in such a way to make you want to keep eating it and they do that by making you not feel satisfied as you eat it I’d point to potato chips I’d point to like cheap chocolate I point to candy and so on it’s made in such a way that they want you to consume a lot of it and not feel satisfied so that you continue consuming it what what what makes it so you don’t feel satisfied well you make it so your body is not getting what it needs and so your body needs more of it to fill that gap of what you need and some people argue that’s probably making us overweight you know I mean these are valid concerns and then the other problem you start having is well how you know what’s the long-term effect when we consume a lot of these things or we consume these chemicals in conjunction with each other right uh there’s also the problem just U of you know do do you all remember I can’t remember the it must have been in like the the 90s do you remember those commercials where they were trying to tell us that eggs are making us all unhealthy and I remember this as a kid they had a commercial where they took people dressed in like egg costumes and they put them in prison and they were like eggs cause high cholesterol I remember cuz my my favorite breakfast when I was a kid was eggs and toast my mom would make me eggs and toast and as soon as that commercial came out I wasn’t allowed to have eggs and toast for breakfast anymore because you know they’ll give they create heart problems you don’t want to eat them don’t eat them and I was stuck with like cold processed cereal or like oatmeal and I hated it as a kid cereal was okay but I didn’t like oatmeal I like it now but not at the time and then what did they do they said oh it turns out eggs are okay to eat and then they had another commercial where they took those same people in egg costumes and they opened the jail door and let the eggs back out do do any of you remember these commercials and then people were like well what the heck what the heck is this you told me they’re unhealthy now you’re telling me they are healthy and people don’t know what to make of it right uh it’s the same thing with like milk people are like milk milk will cause swelling and it causes all these other problems when I was a kid we drink a whole glass of milk right it was it was part of the American diet you drink a whole glass of milk calcium it’s good for you and so on then they started giving us 2% milk I know for a fact that because I know people who work in the industry Farmers uh Pig Farmers they will give two% milk skim milk to their pigs to make them fat they give skim milk to their pigs to make them fat so is 2% better for you or is it worse for you I don’t know uh what about raw milk that’s a whole other discussion that you I think we’re currently having right uh the these are real issues you want to see something funny uh folks go and look at pictures of milk cultures side by side with not milk cultures look at cultures that eat a lot of butter and meat and egg eggs look at them side by side they’ll be like giant Burly men next to like these scrawny little dudes look at like Mongolians you know for for example next to like the rest of Asia look at uh look at Germans very strong you know milk culture next to some other people in Europe you know uh actually I would say it does make people pretty big and strong personally and I’m just going by what I’m seeing on the surface right really funny story have any of you ever read the early advertisements in Japan for uh McDonald’s they’re hilarious they’re some of the funniest things you’ll ever read uh you know because Japan it used to be mostly a vegetarian country and um you know as soon as they lost World War II one of the first things the emperor did was brought out a cow slaughter they had the cow slaughtered and the emperor ate cow meat right because he wanted to encourage the cons consumption of meat you know they they ate fish and stuff like that but you know beef was not much of a thing because of Buddhism right they don’t they don’t want to kill animals one of the first things they did was started eating beef steak and stuff and some of the early advertisements for McDonald’s are hilarious because they’re like they’re you know they’ll they’ll say like in Japanese like in 50 years we consume these Burgers you know our hair will turn blonde and our skin will turn light and we’ll you know grow three feet taller and stuff like that like stuff you could you could probably never get away saying these days but you know at the time that was like in their actual writings you know what I mean like that was like the advertisement in Japan they’re hilarious it’s so funny you know keep in mind too you know they were allies with Germany right the whole Aryan thing like they were they were allies with them but you know the this this was uh part of the campaign eat meat and it’ll make you big and strong you know what I mean uh you know and on that note too I think in the US uh in the US now we have diets coming about where people are saying just eat a bunch of meat uh I I’m an advocate for eating balanced meals some people would argue the food pyramid as we currently understand it is kind of upside down you should probably eat more meat I don’t know uh you know I do know there are some countries in Southeast Asia and East Asia where they they eat a lot of stuff I’m very big on like probiotics uh you know when I I actually when I was when I was doing reporting in South Korea I really liked eating the kimchi actually you know the probiotics I I really felt great eating those James Dyson you’re saying Josh do those ads have Godzilla in them probably Japanese commercials are hilarious I was watching sometimes I I just watch stuff like this because I get bored but like uh Nicholas Cage has some hilarious very strange commercials in Japan they have actors who do who do commercials in Japan they’re hilarious is they’re very weird but they’re hilarious anyways uh Angel 761 you’re saying many things are bad for us I think the big issue here is that some of these things are completely unnecessary in our products and really bad for children with our technological capabilities there has to be a way to reformulate some of these things yeah you know I I grew up Rel in a relatively conservative family but kind of grew up in like a hippie upbringing where I I grew up like you know eating healthy food and learning to live off the land I grew up hunting and fishing uh I I only ever hunted like quail and pheasant you know I I went deer hunting with my dad but just all all I did was help track you know that kind of stuff you know but I grew up like that I grew up without you know a lot of outdoors I grew up every single weekend I’d spend time with my uncle or my and and the whole family having barbecues on the beach and fishing right and so a lot of my diet growing up was you know natural Whole Foods when when we had land in Costa Rica my dad had planted trees and so on so we could mostly just live off the land we didn’t really have to buy a lot of food and uh you know for me that kind of made a good example of of how you can live you know I could if I had a piece of land I can relatively live off the crops I grow and the meat I get from hunting or fishing right it’s it’s very easy to live like that I I know from my dad too you know because you know I’m mixed race but you know I grew up with a lot of Hawaiian culture mainly because my dad and his sisters they grew up in Hawaii um my great grandma you know was native Hawaiian and the culture was very strong in my family I I did hoola I did hoola growing up along with my cousins and my aunts and everything like that you know I grew up doing that stuff uh I know from my dad talking about stories that his his grandma told him of Hawaii prior to you know this this prior to kind of modernization when they lived in Grass huts and so like you know I still have those stories my great grandma would say you know we didn’t really have to do anything back then you could live off the land like you didn’t really have to work that hard you hunt and you fish and that’s all you need really it’s you know you need some food you walk down you walk a little bit and you just pick the stuff you need I know from my father-in-law who uh you know he’s Cambodian he was a doctor in Cambodia he said Cambodia was like that he said that fish they they travel from like puddle to puddle you’d find fish you’d find fish in the mud I I it’s crazy but you you would you wouldn’t even have to fish to get a fish you know you you could pick your food off the trees and there was so much so many edible herbs around you could just pick them and have a meal there was not a lot of work that was needed to live a basic comfortable life and you know that’s the way that a lot of places used to be uh it’s just we’ve lost touch with a lot of that and you know I I think if you have a good home-cooked meal meal is a lot better than processed food meal uh with my family we tend to cook food we tend to cook all of our own meals I I eat very little processed food uh personally all right folks that said uh anyways long discussion today about Healthy Living I
