woki tried to cancel one of the most brilliant comedian of our era the leftwing corporate media proclaimed his downfall as if it were an inevitability and yet Chappelle did not Retreat he did not cower instead he went back back onto the stage and made jokes that sent the woke Brigade into a hysteria this is a man who once walked away from $50 million not for profit nor for power but for something infinitely more valuable his Integrity it is no trivial thing to possess Integrity in a world that endlessly incentivizes its sale Integrity is the ultimate credential without it words are Hollow with it they cut to the core you know when we did Blue Streak we were promoting it and Martin had a stroke he almost died and then after after that I saw him I was like oh my God Martin are you okay and he said I got the best sleep I ever got in my life it’s how tough he is so let me ask you this what is happening in Hollywood that a guy that tough will be on the street waving a gun screaming they are trying to kill me yeah what’s going on why is Dave Chappelle going to Africa why does Mariah Carey make a $100 million deal and take a clothes off on TRL it weak person cannot get truth is both feared and suppressed women get mad at me gay people get mad at me lesbians get mad at me but I’m tell you right now this is true these transgenders these [ __ ] want me dead I’ve gone too far I’ve said too [Music] much and I got to tell you I’m very worried about it I’m not even joking every time I come out on stage I be scared I be looking around the crowd searching for Knuckles and Adams apples to see where the threats might be coming [Applause] from a [ __ ] came up to me on the street the other day he said careful Dave they after you I said what one they or many ve his Reflections on the lgbtq plus movement struck a deep nerve not because they were cruel but because they were accurate the reaction was immediate leftist media wasted no time to denounce him as a purveyor of hate speech protests erupted within Netflix itself demanding his cancellation the forces of ideological Purity had found their latest Target and yet he did not succumb to the Insidious demand for public self- denunciation instead he articulated a fundamental principle modern culture has conflated emotional discomfort with genuine harm just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right she said because David there’s no way that you can ever say the word fot on our Network I didn’t know I did anything wrong I didn’t try to defend myself I said all right [ __ ] it I’ll take it out have a good afternoon and as I was leaving it occurred to me hey hey Renee quick question it’s just a question seriously I want to know like why why is it why is it that that I can say the word [ __ ] with impunity but I can’t say the word fot and she said because David you are not gay I said well Renee I’m not a [ __ ] either this is precisely what Chappelle does best he does not hurl insults he exposes absurdities he forces us to front the contradictions embedded within our ideological Frameworks it’s hard not to write these jokes it’s hard not to think about even when I watch sports I be thinking about like like think about okay okay say say LeBron James uh changed his gender you know what I mean okay can he stay in the NBA or because he’s a woman does he have to go to the W NBA where he will score 840 points a game consider his now famous hypothetical LeBron James transitioning and then dominating the WNBA is this fairness is this Equity or does it reveal a deeper Paradox we refuse to name and what no did which I’ll never forget is he knew that I was the biggest Jim Carrey fan in the world now I’m not going to go all into it but Jim Carrey is talented in a way that you can’t practice rehearse what a god-given talent I was fascinated with him and Noom knew that and he called me up and he goes dve um he says I’m doing a movie with Jim Carrey yeah do you want to meet him and I said [ __ ] yes I do and the movie was called man on the moon I didn’t know any of this and in this movie Jim Carrey was playing another comedian I admired the late great Andy Kaufman yes and Jim Carrey was so immersed in that role that from the moment he woke up to the time he went to bed at night he would live his life as Andy Kaufman I didn’t know that when they said cut this was still and he CAU me so much so that everybody on the crew called him Andy I didn’t know any of that I just went there to meet him and when he walked into the room where we were supposed to meet I screamed Jim Carrey and everyone said no call him Andy and I didn’t understand and then he came over and he was acting weird I didn’t know he was acting like Andy called me she like hey how you doing and I was like hello Andy now in hindsight how [ __ ] lucky am I that I got to see one of the greatest artists of my time immersed in one of his most challenging processes ever very lucky to have seen that but as it was happening I was very disappointed cuz I wanted to meet Jim Carrey and I had to pretend this [ __ ] was Andy Kaufman all afternoon and it was clearly Jim Carrey I could look at him and I could see he was Jim Carrey anyway I say all that to say that’s how trans people make me feel his critique of corporate activism is just as devastating he exposes its hypocrisy how corporations masquerade as champions of Justice while remaining indifferent to real suffering I mean I’m a conspiracy theorist to a degree like when I I connect dots that maybe shouldn’t be connected I don’t know but certain dots like when I see that they put every black man in the movies in the dress at some point in their career I’d be connecting D like why all these brothers got to wear dress that’s happened to me I’m doing a movie with Martin yeah the movie is going good so I walk in the trailer I’m like man this must be the wrong trailer cuz there’s a dress in here they come in the rider comes in I think he’s writer he’s like Dave listen we got this hilarious scene where Martin’s sneaking out of jail so he disguises you as a prostitute he put this dress on and huh what a prostitute now I’m not doing that I don’t feel comfortable with it that should have been in a discussion what you don’t feel comfortable with it I mean it’s a hilarious bit all the greats have done it so well if all the greats have done it it’s kind of hacky right you’re right so why don’t we just not do it cuz I don’t feel comfortable wearing a dress Oh Come On Dave listen we we got it all set up we’re supposed to shoot every every minute you waste cost this much money you know the pressure comes in h I’m now I’m not wearing no dress man I’m funnier than a dress just give me something funny to say I don’t need wear no dress to be funny one of my Milton B BL you know we going like this and then finally he’s like ah and he leaves and then like the the director comes Dave it really would be great if you wear the dress what is wrong what is this a Brokeback Mountain in here so so wear the wear the dress I want to wear the dress I want to wear this dress you know I mean this is oh gosh this guys so difficult they leave now the producers comes come on David would be so great I mean and then I started thinking about all the comics that I’ve seen man you know strong Brothers why why you putting us in these dresses but the minute it was clear I was adamant I’m not wearing the dress I’m not wearing the dress all right fine think of something else that comes back 10 minutes later the whole new scene how damn how did you write the scene so fast you know it’s like so you got to take a St Dave chapelle’s greatest Legacy will not merely be his comedy it will be the undeniable truth that difficult conversations must be had that laughter is a gateway to understanding that the pursuit of Truth requires courage Experience Politics
