And on the other side, you have the guy running in New York, Mandami, right? Okay, who’s like a straightup communist. I mean, he is. He’s talks about, you know, the things that communists say. I mean, he he wants free grocery stores, free buses. Bill Maher just went after Zoron Mandani, and it’s absolutely hilarious. The comedian and talk show host tore into Mumani’s far-left ideals, calling his New York win the best gift Republicans could ever ask for. Mars breakdown of Mumani’s politics isn’t just critical, it’s brutal, sharp, and laughout loud savage. You really don’t want to miss this one. So, let’s dive right in. Bad ideas. And again, this ugly streak ugly streak of anti-semitism. Who’s the most popular politician on the left? AOC. I don’t know. one of but who who’s you know Bernie Bernie is uh Bernie is I mean he’s not he’s a he’s not a capitalist you know no he’s not and he’s also not president he’s not he’s but but neither is mom Donnie no but he will trust me he will be featured in the campaign commercial they’re going to feature people they boogeyman everybody yeah but you don’t have to boogeyman him does it to himself Mar’s absolutely right the Republicans don’t need to invent some boogeyman out of Zoron Manny he does that job himself every time he opens his mouth. With Mandani poised to win the New York mayoral race, critics argue that his victory would be nothing short of a political gold mine for Republicans. They’d have endless ammunition to claim the DNC is sliding toward full-blown socialism. Ma’am Dany insists he’s just a democratic socialist. But that label doesn’t exactly comfort anyone outside his echo chamber. And Bill Maher, he’s not buying it for a second. To him, Manny represents the kind of far-left idealism that might sound noble, but plays right into conservative hands. This must be horrible for a guy like you who you spent your whole life talking about how government tries to do too much, which it does, and spends too much. And here you have Trump who is the Republican who is a grandizing more power than anybody as we just talked about. And on the other side, you have the guy running in New York, Mandami, right? Okay. who’s like a straightup communist. I mean, he is. He’s talks about, you know, the things that communists say. I mean, he he wants free grocery stores, free buses. I want him to win. You want him to win. On the surface, it all sounds utopian, the kind of feel-good rhetoric that easily wins hearts and headlines. But scratch a little deeper, and the dream quickly turns into a nightmare. Mani’s vision might excite idealists. But for those who’ve seen socialism fail in real time, it’s a chilling deja vu disguised as progress. Every 20 years or so, wait, we need every 20 years or so, we need a conspicuous, confined experiment with socialism so we can crack it up again. Socialist slogan used to be workers of the world unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains. The new socialist slogan is trust us. This time it won’t be a mess. Yep, socialists have failed so many times that most people wouldn’t touch their ideas with a 10-ft pole. Except, of course, younger voters who find the utopian promises irresistible. The problem with socialism isn’t just human greed. It’s human nature itself. People need incentives to innovate, to create, to push society forward. When you take away competition and reward everyone equally, productivity dies. Bureaucracy grows. Corruption fers. Soon, the very system meant to create equality ends up breeding inefficiency and resentment. History has proven it. When the state tries to control everything, it collapses under its own weight. Mandani’s policies filled with free handouts and government control sound compassionate on paper, but crumble in practice. Without economic freedom, progress stalls, and eventually everyone suffers equally, just not in the way they hoped. So yeah, when when the post-war labor government in Britain was about to get started, one of their leading lights was a socialist named Anurian Beavenon. He said, “What could go wrong?” He said, “We have a nation bedded on coal, surrounded by fish. It would take an organizational genius to have a shortage of either.” In three years, they had a shortage of both. That’s socialism. Simple. Britain is a perfect cautionary tale. In the early 1900s, Britain flirted heavily with socialism. promising equal opportunities, fair wages, and a just distribution of wealth. It sounded noble, even revolutionary at the time. But within a few decades, the results were far from the utopia that was promised. Industries once thriving under private innovation were nationalized and strangled by bureaucracy. Productivity plummeted, inflation soared, and the economy slowed to a crawl. The so-called equality they fought for ended up spreading poverty instead of prosperity. By the 1970s, Britain was known as the sick man of Europe. It wasn’t until Thatcher’s free market reforms that the country began to recover. And one of the things that we’ve said beyond saying that we’re going to make this a sanctuary city for LGBTQIA plus workers, beyond saying that we’re going to establish an office of LGBTQIA plus affairs, it’s also that we’re going to provide $65 million of funding for gender affirming care. the same amount of funding the federal government direct to pull out internal global providers for that kind of work. And in this moment especially, we want to fight the Trump administration, we have to do so by fully funding our own services, taxing the wealthiest and corporations. And this is exactly why Bill Maher fears that Zoran Mandani could become the Democrats undoing. Mah knows that when the party drifts too far left, it alienates the very moderates it needs to win. One of the key reasons many Americans voted for Donald Trump was to push back against what they saw as the excesses of progressive ideology, especially the controversial gender affirming procedures involving minors. Yet, Mandani seems determined to reopen that womb. He’s pledged to privately raise a staggering $65 million to fund such initiatives, doubling down on one of the most divisive issues in modern American politics. For Maher and other Democrats who still value reason over radicalism, Mumani’s agenda isn’t just politically risky, it’s catastrophic. It hands Republicans an easy narrative that the left has lost touch with common sense, morality, and the everyday American voter. He has attacked you personally and publicly like this. He’s not a socialist. He’s a communist. Okay? This is not a socialist, man. This is a communist. I don’t like to see a communist become mayor. I will tell you that I call him my little communist. He’s my little communist mayor. We should never be in a position where we’re talking about a communist. We’re going to end up with a communist mayor. It’s not even believable. My beautiful New York. I think uh if a communist takes over New York City, I think that’s that’s a gift to the Republican party. Last time you were on this program, you were unequivocal in saying you do not like capitalism. But Trump, just in those remarks there, I counted called you a communist eight times. Are you? No, I’m a Democratic socialist. I’ve said that time and again. There’s no two ways about it or beating around the bush. It isn’t Donald Trump making him a boogeyman. Mdani is doing that all by himself. He’s also proposed city-owned grocery stores and free public transportation, policies that lean heavily toward government control of the economy. While Manny insists he’s just a democratic socialist, his rhetoric often mirrors the language and ambitions of far-left movements. Even if his intentions sound noble, his ideas feed directly into the narrative that Democrats are drifting towards socialism. In short, walk like a duck, quack like a duck. What I found is that this vision of a democratic of democratic socialism, it’s one that often comes back to what Martin Luther King said decades ago. A vision of call it democracy or call it democratic socialism. There must be a better distribution of wealth for all of God’s children in this country. Here in New York City, wealthiest city and the wealthiest country in the history of the world. One in four are in poverty. 500,000 kids go to sleep hungry every night. It’s untenable to live with this kind of a divide. We have to actually have a politics that puts working people first. Now, that’s quite interesting when you take a closer look. Mamani’s rhetoric sounds fresh to some ears, but it’s really just the same recycled talking points we’ve heard from politicians for decades. They promise equality, fairness, and opportunity, using emotional language and selective statistics to stir up hope. Then, once they’re in power, the mask comes off and their true policies emerge. Policies that usually punish success and overregulate growth. America doesn’t need that. Neither does New York. The country has thrived under capitalist ideals, innovation, competition, and personal freedom. And those are the very principles that built its prosperity. So why on earth would we think it’ll work here? If history is any guide, the answer is simple. It won’t. And Mah, to his credit, knows that all too well. Assemblyman, you’re running for mayor of New York and not prime minister of Israel. But you’ve made inflammatory statements like calling Israel an apartheid state and questioning its right to exist as a Jewish state. Just this week, you were evasive with a reporter about condemning Hamas given New York has the largest Jewish population outside of Israel. Why should voters who see this as a a moral red line trust your clarity and judgment? Well, I really appreciate this question. An opportunity to just clear up, I think, a number of misconceptions. You know, first and foremost, you’re right. I am running to be the mayor of the city and this city will be the focus of my administration. Ensuring that we make this a city everyone can afford and everyone knows that they belong to. And also millions of New Yorkers, myself included, care deeply about what’s happening in Israel and Palestine. You see how he carefully sidestepped that question? Classic politician move. When faced with something uncomfortable, they dodge it entirely and drown the moment in a sea of word salad. Gavin Newsome does it with a smile. Kla Harris has practically turned it into performance art and AOC delivers it like a rehearsed monologue. Zoron Mdani just joined the club. His evasive response on the issue of Israel wasn’t just a harmless deflection. It was revealing. It showed exactly what kind of leader he’d be if he became mayor of New York. One who avoids taking firm stances when they matter most. Instead of clarity, we get vague moral posturing and politically safe rhetoric. And that’s the danger. Not what he says, but what he refuses to say. Because in politics, silence and evasion often speak louder than words. I want to speak to the memory of my aunt who stopped taking the subway after September 11th because she did not feel safe in her hijab. Well, it wasn’t so much his aunt as his dad’s cousin, but uh you know, semantics. Douglas, is he ready to lead? No. In absolutely no way is he ready to lead. And that was just another reminder of it. This is such a self-involved little narcissist with so little uh going for him. And that’s exactly what they do. Spin slightly exaggerated, emotionally charged stories to tug at people’s hearts and win their votes. It’s a time-t tested political tactic straight out of the playbook. And for Democrats who’ve mastered the art of identity politics, Zoran Mumani’s story fits perfectly. It’s sentimental, symbolic, and designed to make him look like the embodiment of progress and compassion. The party will eat it up, framing him as the voice of the marginalized and the moral conscience of New York. But for those who actually know the truth, those who see beyond the emotional packaging, it’s just another performance. They won’t be swayed by poetic speeches or sob stories. They know that good storytelling doesn’t equal good governance. Mani’s narrative may charm the idealists, but to the realists, it’s just political theater. Beautifully acted, cleverly scripted, but ultimately hollow where it counts. But he even decides to turn the memory of 9/11 and the 3,000 Americans murdered that day into a story about his aunt and the subway. It’s It’s interesting. Like so many things this mommy candidate does, uh, he makes it about himself and it all turns out to be untrue. Anyway, it seems to the extent that he had any such aren’t in question, uh, she wasn’t, uh, in New York at the time and in any case didn’t wear the headscarf. So, it turns out Zoran Mani’s heartwarming backstory doesn’t quite hold up under scrutiny. But in a deep blue democratic stronghold like New York, the story’s different. Loyalty often trumps logic, and Mandani seems poised to coast to victory despite the cracks in his narrative. The real question isn’t whether he’ll win, it’s what he’ll do once the spotlight turns harsh, and the campaign slogans fade. Running on feel-good promises is one thing. Governing a city as complex and divided as New York is another. Watching how Mumani handles that reality will be very, very interesting. In the end, Zoron Mdani’s rise isn’t a victory for progress. It’s a warning. Behind the polished speeches and socialist promises lies a risky ideology that history has already condemned. Bill Maher’s fears are justified. If Mandani leads New York this way, it won’t just hurt Democrats, it’ll redefine them. And this brings us to the end of today’s video.
